There was a time not so far in the distant past, that when one walked up to the table to vote, they asked you for identification...... Bev is an idiot. =.=
I’m not sure about the laws in CT, but every time I vote they always ask for ID. Never heard anyone complain.
Here in Maine we just passed a voter ID law, (Signed by Gov. LePage June 21, 2011) thanks to our recent “revolution” in which we re took the Governor’s seat along with both houses of the Legislature after about 40 years of Commucrat domination.

The Maine Moonbats are, of course, furious. Now they are mounting a petition drive in order to put a “People’s veto” on the next ballot.

Ironically, just last year they were insisting on amending our Constitution to banish the “People’s veto” clause, since we were using it frequently to resist their tyranny and confiscatory taxation. The left beat us nearly every time, but it cost them a lot of money for propaganda and vote buying, we actually did win a few, and they were rather tiring of it.
How things change when the proverbial shoe is on the other foot!

The identical bogus “disinfranchizement” argument was advanced by the Marxists here in protest, and they deny that we have any voter fraud here in Maine to worry about in the first place.
Anyone who has been politically active and paying attention up here however, knows otherwise. The College useful idiots are notorious for multi voting as well as voting both here in Maine as well as in their State of residence. No one ever seems to catch them doing it, and I don’t think many if any people are even trying. Some of them brag about helping Maine Dems steal elections by riding the University vans and school buses around to different polling places on election day and multi voting under false registrations... after the statute of limitations has expired since their crimes, of course. What they do during “early voting” season and by fraudulent absentee ballot we can only speculate.
Rather surprisingly, several Democrats joined the Rs in voting for it. A couple of RINOS voted with the Dems of course - nothing new there. The Tea Party of Maine took notice ... and names. Some of those RINOs are termed out so they don’t really care.
Thank God for Governor LePage!
The NC Legislature is supposed to meet again in July to decide on redistricting. Why can’t the legislators vote to override Perdue’s veto? They did override her veto of the budget.
OVERRIDE
The problem is in the State House. The Senate has a veto-proof GOP majority, and they seem pretty solid in their votes. The State House has a decent GOP majority (better than most of us had anticipated before last year's elections), but less than veto-proof (60%) majority. So, the GOP House leadership needs some Dem votes. In the case of the budget vote, they got the Dem votes they needed, both in the passage of the bill, and the override of the veto. I'm sure the Dems they lured to their side got something in the way of local pork; like it or not, that's the way things work.
In the case of the Voter ID bill, it appears that the Dem votes won't be there. They didn't vote for the bill itself, and it would be difficult to imagine them voting to override after having voted "nay" on the main question.
The Progressive movement needs to be wiped out all over. Myrtle Beach is as big a liberal stronghold as Raleigh and Charlotte. Getting involved at the local level is the best option for most of us.
Even throughout the era of Helms, NC (like KY) mostly chose liberal Democrat governors; people there must be expecting something that has not materialized, and they are patiently waiting.
Dear Rep. Haire,
Can you please tell me how you make the distinction between Senate Bill 474 (= H656) Photo ID for Certain Controlled Substances, which you voted for, and the Voter Photo ID bill (HB 351 RESTORE CONFIDENCE IN GOVERNMENT) you voted against?
Apparently you don’t have a problem with the elderly, minorities and college students not being able to get their medicine for lack of a proper Photo ID, just as long as they can vote for you anonymously?
I await your response.
Sincerely,
Larry Wright
