Suspected flash mob rips off Upper Darby Sears

UPPER DARBY — A mob of about 40 people stormed into the Sears department store on 69th Street Thursday, and in a flash stole thousands of dollars worth of merchandise, officials said.

Police were able to round up 15 juveniles and one adult, 19, all from West Philadelphia.

“They came in on the El train and hit Sears,” police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said. “They stole sneakers, socks, watches, whatever they could get their hands on, and left.

“Imagine the guts of this gang of young hoodlums. One was 11 years old. The others arrested ranged from 12 to 16 years old. They planned this out earlier in the day on a social networking site. It was pre-planned. They got on the El, got off at 69th Street Terminal and walked up the hill to Sears.”

Kyree Marsh, 19, of the 5500 block of Spruce Street, Philadelphia, was arrested and charged with retail theft, conspiracy to retail theft and corruption of minors.

Police recovered some of the stolen sneakers and socks that were in the backpack of one of the individuals arrested and in the pockets of others taken into custody.

According to the affidavit, the Sears loss-prevention officer saw the mob enter the store at 7:09 p.m. on Thursday.

The group then began taking merchandise off the shelves.

Yes, and notice that no Marxists like Jackson are investing in building supermarkets in those areas. I’m a bit surprised that the Fed hasn’t strong-armed supermarket chains into “serving” the so called food deserts.

How far removed are we from state-run food distribution centers in places like Detroit.

I can see large chains requiring driver’s license or a credit card to enter the premises.

It is the smaller mom and pop’s or independent stores that would likely cease to exist.

I posted an earlier story about a man near us, he had a carry permit. Read this—he has not been charged—we’re hoping he will not be charged.

We had an interesting incident in Mount Airy, NC last week. A 67 yr old man was taking his morning walk as he has for along time. He carries a firearm to protect him from animals. Well, on this morning, around 6 AM, a 20 yr old man drove past him yelling obscenities, came back and yelled again, got out of his car and came at him with his fist balled up. The nice older man shot him in the groin. The 20 yr old is now in the hospital trying to recover. This is near my home and we have incidents often, this is wide spread. Don’t have to be a big city.

I think it’s happening all over but you only hear about the bigger stores.

Here on Long Island a 7/11 was hit last year by local teens right before the High School summer recess.

It will solve the problem on its own, when businesses stop setting up shop within easy access of black neighbourhoods. The black youths might be getting a kick out of doing this stuff now, but they may not find it so funny when they have to bus it 2 hours one way to buy some bread or eggs or their favourite gold chains.

Some places that has already happened - I don't believe there is a supermarket left in downtown Rochester, NY since Wegmans pulled out of the center city years ago. Now they have to trip to the suburbs for descent prices, or pay the extra costs at local bodegas.

If you live in a large city, look out for this on election day.

Obama trailing in the polls, these “flash mobs” will intimidate voters from casting ballots.

Expect to fight your way to the polls or get an absentee in advance.

I lived in the 69th St section of Upper Darby many, many years ago. As soon as they re-opened the Marshall Rd. bridge (connecting to West Philly) I knew it was time to move out.

Be respectful, be courteous and have a plan to kill every mob member that threatens you.

I'm in California and I have not heard about it occurring here or in Arizona, Oregon and Washington etc.

I believe that when the "Flash Mobs" occur nation wide and loot on an almost daily basis the media will clamp on a blackout. The media people and political "leadership" are frightened and will do anything possible to prevent a white back lash-which may not occur anyway due to a white inability to defend themselves.

It will solve the problem on its own, when businesses stop setting up shop within easy access of black neighbourhoods.

That's what has happened around the Detroit area, isn't it?

Once the businesses are gone the parents start crying that it is racial discriminatiion.

But when law enforcement tries to clean up their neighborhood and collars their lawbreaking criminal kids, relatives and friends they accuse them of racism too.

My wife mentioned just last night that Wal-Mart has closed most of their stores in Memphis and moved them to the suburbs.

I think there are only 3 left in the city limits.

That’s about the only store those morons can even afford to shop in, and they attack it?!

Sears still carried great tools. Of course, tools are too closely associated with "work" --something these feral marauding youths have absolutely no interest in.

Sure, Sears still has a decent selection of tools, but honestly...they wouldn't have even that were it not for the Craftsman line. That was probably the one smart move Sears has made in the last 50 years.

Still...it's hard to build an entire department store around a line of tools, even if the line is Craftsman. Everything else in Sears, outside of the tool departmen, tends to look like offerings from a second-hand shop, which is really pretty sad.

Actually most stores in these kind of areas are on lower margins and will close if this stuff continues.

Also any security gate will only lock in a mob with the other customers and that won’t be good. Anyone injured will sue for sure.

“I’d make them work for free for the city or a business.”

Unfortunately, that might be construed by some legal eagle as “slavery”;)

Law enforcement around my city doesn’t worry about this kind of stuff. They are too busy writing tickets and shutting down flea markets.
