Darby officials vow to take borough back, implement state of emergency [ Philadelphia ]
delcotimes.com ^ | June 26 2011 | By LAURA WISELEY

DARBY BOROUGH — The borough is back under a state of emergency today after being rocked by at least five violent incidents in a 72-hour period.

“We are taking the borough back,” Mayor Helen Thomas said during a Friday-night press conference to declare the state of emergency. “We want everyone to understand that this has to stop, and it’s going to stop tonight.”

Officials put the state of emergency declaration into effect at 8 p.m. Friday. Under the declaration, an 8 p.m.-6 a.m. curfew is in effect for adults and juveniles throughout the borough, and anyone discovered to be out during that time frame is subject to immediate stop-and-frisk procedures.

Police will concentrate primarily on groups of three or more individuals who are loitering or causing a disturbance.

The curfew will remain in effect for 10 days, after which, Thomas said, officials will re-evaluate the measure and decide whether to continue it.

“(The criminals) are tearing the borough up,” she said. “There are too many guns and too many drugs. Tonight, the cells are going to be full.”

The declaration was prompted by five violent incidents in the 72 hours preceding Friday’s announcement. Those incidents included a stolen-car chase Thursday afternoon that ended with police shooting the driver after a confrontation at Fifth and Pine streets.

In an unrelated event earlier that day, a 27-year-old man was shot four times during a robbery in the 500 block of Spruce Street.

Later Thursday night, police were called to the 600 block of Darby Terrace for a report of a man with a gun barricaded inside a home.

“(The criminals) are tearing the borough up,” she said. “There are too many guns and too many drugs.

Wrongo!

There are not enough guns in the hands of the law abiding citizens who need to protect themselves!

Moreover, so many of the crimes (flashmobs) that occurred throughout the country this weekend (Iowa, Philadelphia, etc) were black on white hate crimes.

Eric Holder's people on crime sprees.

Here is where it gets worse: if you have a stun gun in Philadelphia, and use it to defend yourself from a mob of thugs, you are the one who will be charged with a Felony.

Sure sounds like these flash mobs are looking to start that race war that Van Jones has been advocating. I hope the younger people are smart enough to avoid it happening because it is exactly the bottom up, top down opportunity Obama and the commies want.

I'm sure all the hoodlums with guns had them legally, right???

And, of course, the Obama supporters' answer will be to take the guns away from the law-abiding citizens.

So the mayor denies the constitutional rights of the vast majority of the citizens because they cannot/will not deal with the crime problem?

What's wrong with shooting rioters in the streets like rabid dogs?

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't PA Castle Doctrine (extension "past the door") pass recently?

If the mayor were actually serious, she would have re-iterated Castle Doctrine and instructed the local DA not to prosecute followed by a stern warning: "You mess around in this borough, you will be shot."

/pipe dream for PA, I know. But as I recall, it seemed to have worked in South Carolina a few years back.

PA is pivotal in 2012.

Obama and the liberal TeaParty, the Black Panthers , have instructed their people to ramp up violence.

One misstep to restore order will be covered more than if the flash mobs killed 100 children.

There will be LA style riots in PA and Ill soon.

My eyes are wide open; that's why I would never advocate for playing into Obama’s plan. Why make it hard for the military to determine which side is telling the truth? If you help instigate the race war, Obama is justified in calling for martial law. If you don't and he calls for martial law to rein in Eric Holder's people, it's time to rise up against the government.

I live 400 miles from any big city and have no plans to get involved with anything, ever.

But if somehow or other stuff came to my door, I would stand my ground.

I feel for good people who live around this stuff and are going to suffer. It is organized, orchestrated mayhem and it will get worse until people are killed. No doubt many people. Nothing can stop it, and advocating peaceful response will accomplish nothing. Better advice is to be mentally and in every other way prepared. And move, if that is feasible.

I won't argue with that but as a civilized people, there's more we have to do. We have make sure that our (newly) elected officials hold responsible those accountable for this flashmob stuff. Examples need to be made. Glenn Beck has done an excellent job of documenting Van Jones and Obama, the various democrats who talk about redistribution (which we all know is theft), bottom up top down radical change. Calling for “in your face” political discourse and bringing a gun to the knife fight. As much as the left wanted to connect Jared Loughner to right-wing extremism, the truth is, the extremism is solely from the left; it always has been. From lynchings in their KKK past to their rhetoric of today; it's all they know.

We need to vote out ALL incumbents (with the exception of our newly elected conservatives who have proven themselves) and start over, from scratch. We need to send a clear and concise message that the entitlement mentality is gone and a new era of personal responsibility has begun and you either get with the program or you're out. With all the money we waste, I'd like to “waste” just a little bit more; the FIRST thing I'd like to see happen when our new conservative President assumes office is that all addresses in America receive a copy of the Constitution with a cover letter renewing a pledge that all elected officials stand by their sworn oath to uphold this Constitution and as citizens, it is our DUTY to learn it and hod them accountable.

I don’t disagree with anything you’re saying. I just am not optimistic that any of it will do any good. Why?

1. Conservatives are too few; actually many people call themselves conservative who are not. True Constitutionalists are too few in number. Most R’s and even conservatives just want to tweak the current system a bit, or trim it down, or go off the cliff a little slower, rather than bring the fedgov back within Constitutional principles.

2. R’s - meaning elected politicians - are mostly all cowards without real Constitutional principles; many are just as bad as the D’s. Even if the ones in there leave and are replaced, it most likely won’t make much difference. The elitist string pullers are powerful.

3. Much of the non-lected bureaucracies of state and fed agencies, departments and so on are either out and out lefitsts or just gravy train riders who don’t to rock the boat.

4. The economy is collapsing and there will be no gov money to support the vast numbers of the entitlement class, this will happen no matter what.

5. Most states are so riding the gravy train themselves they don’t want major changes. But, states to me are the best hope, states rights movement are actually the best hope.

So, I see a number of different fuses, all burning away, and growing shorter. I wish I were more optimistic, but I’m not.

I certainly understand your lack of optimism, I feel it too. I’m giving myself to the 2012 election before I allow my last glimmer of hope to die out. My hope is that America will go through a revival of it’s Constitutional glory. I’m doing what I can to educate the younger people around me in hopes that it will make a difference. If 2012 is a bust, God help us!

Moreover the idea that flashmobs can wreak havoc without response until someone defends himself and then and only then there is an “incident” is delusional.

Why would you think that I want flash mobs to not be held accountable for the havoc they wreak? On the contrary, I want them to dealt with swiftly and harshly; by law enforcement.

What I don't want is young white men and women playing into the race war plan. Is that delusional?

I would add one more to your excellent list:

** ALL** of our government owned and run schools are GODLESS in their worldview, socialist-funded, compulsory, and managed by the collectivist voting-mob!

Simply by attending, 85% of all of our nation's children become comfortable with taking their neighbor's money for a service their parents want for tuition-free. Well, gee! If the government can use police threat to get free schooling why not a thousand other wants and needs? Children also learn to be comfortable with government compulsion and voter mob collectivist control of their lives.

Finally....Children who attend godless schools WILL learn to think and reason godlessly. They must simply to cooperate with the classroom instruction.

So?....Has any of the above been good for our nation? NO! Wilson, Roosevelt, Johnson, Carter, and Clinton, and now the full-blown Marxist Obama is proof enough of that. Any more of this indoctrination and we will see re-education camps in this nation.

In fact, announce an all you can eat barbecue, wih pimps up and ho’s down, and get as many bangers as you can. Serve Russian food if it helps get the Russian mob in there as well. She should leak word about 1M kilos of black tar hidden in a sewer in the middle of Darby.

Then call it in:

“Expend all remaining ordnance on my POD. It’s been a lovely f’ing tenure as mayor. Darby out.”

Sadly 2012 will be a bust for the simple reason that too many folks in the leadership of both parties see the train wreck coming & are more interested in getting all the goodies for themselves that they can before they eject & get their money loved ones out of the way .

Can’t afford gold but am stocking up on canned goods & small arms ammo. This view of the leadership of the political parties comes from watching & listening to them for nearly 30 years .

Not on the MSM but on C-span your opinion might vary but thats your right ,at least for the time being.
