Obama slips DREAM Act amnesty past Congress

A new enforcement memo handed down by the director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement last week has some accusing the White House of running around Congress to implement the DREAM Act – and consequent amnesty for some illegal immigrants – by executive fiat.

The new memo, penned by ICE Director John Morton, directs ICE agents, attorneys and directors to exercise "prosecutorial discretion" – meaning less likelihood of deportation – for illegal aliens who have been students in the U.S., who have been in the country since childhood or who have served in the American military.

ICE doesn't have to deport them anymore.

Ice was not deporting many anyway. ICE is now not doing a job that an American would do.

There can be no extension of the debt limit, nor any budget, unless and until this EO is rescinded.

Congress will howl with protest when the White House issues a memo authorizing the immediate extralegal imprisonment and/or execution of all of its members. Every fledgling totalitarian state has its “deer in the headlights” moment when the useful idiots exceed their expiration date.

Most people who speed don't get tickets. The executive branches of countless cities, counties, states, and federal jurisdictions are tacitly approving speeding by not fully, or even minimally, enforcing the law.

People who want to get drugs, pretty much get them at a reasonable price. This can only be happening because local, state, and federal officials are tacitly allowing drugs to get from dealers to customers.

Credit card companies allow lots of fraud and make up the difference by jacking up the interest charges and penalty fees to their trustworthy customers. Therefore, I guess it is OK to commit credit card fraud since the card companies seem to have alternate ways to deal with it.

The Obama administration and its acolytes are innocently noting that "prosecutorial discretion" is not a new idea--in fact, those of all political stripes use it--but the simple fact remains that this is an obvious attempt at an end run around Congress' refusal to go along with Harry Reid's "Dream Act" last year.

And that is hardly in keeping with the (usually sound) doctrine of prosecutorial discretion...

There is not much good in the GOP except they are not Democrats. At least I hope not.

These so called “executive orders” to my recollection were first used by GW Bush. I thought they were an impeachable offense then, and I consider them an impeachable offense now with Obama.

The President has no right to circumvent the Constitutional process of the Congress and Judiciary. Any president who does this needs charged and impeached to make sure it never happens again. Presidents who wage unilateral war represent another reason for impeachment. There are those in DC who control our Congress who wish to keep these issues under wraps, and they will pull strings to make sure neither Party goes after this behavior. This is what we should worry about.

Because Bush was a Republican does not mean he deserved a pass on impeachment and neither does Obama.

I’ll have a real life example in 2 weeks or so. Guy I work with lives with a hispanic lady (3 years or better and legal immigrant/citizen). Her niece got popped for driving with out insurance, drivers license, etc. Niece is illegal. she got 18 days more in jail, after serving a month(?). She will be turned over to ICE when she gets out. 3 kids by 2 different daddies. anchor kids. My bet is she never is deported.
