Senator Dick Durbin has never been accused of being the brightest man in ANY room. However as a 3-term Senator one would at least expect him to know the basics of the U.S. Constitution that he swore an oath to defend. No such luck, as Durbin led off the first hearing of his pet 'DREAM Act' by asking all the illegals in his audience to stand up (you know, the ones 'hiding in the shadows') and then says he sees in them our future "doctors, our teachers...our senators, and maybe our president." Uh, Senator, try reading Article 2, Section 1, Clause 5 of the Constitution, which says: “No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President.” So not even a LEGAL immigrant can EVER be President. Sigh.

Durbin’s turbin has been tied too tight for years. But he is from Illinois so stupidity is an accepted way of political life.

Well, according to a number of FReepers, all you have to be is born in this country and the presidency is yours for the taking. Your parents’ citizenship has nothing to do with it.
He says these people can be our “doctors and teachers” because in the mind of a liberal, an illegal alien is automatically a great person.
Meanwhile, around the World, REAL doctors, nurses, engineers, scientists, etc., are waiting for YEARS to come here legally, because Dick Durbin and his ilk want to flood us with uneducated illegals to become democats.
The whole point of illegal and legal immigration is to change the political makeup of the country in the liberals favor. Most other countries now require immigrants to have specific skills but the United States has the family based system along with birth right citizenship. Even the limited H1B visas are primary designed to depress wages in the science and engineering sectors which leads to fewer students enrolling in said subjects. Instead, we’ve been turning out graduates with either worthless degrees or degrees which depend on government largess.
No kidding. That’s about right.
