"Perry-Palin is my dream ticket."

Would a person have to buy one of Palin's books before being permitted to vote for Perry?

I hated the idea of a McLame ticket until he took her on back in 2008. I was all in after that.
I think we can all say "Amen" to that.

I’ve been here only a couple years, but as soon as I set foot in Texas, I knew I was home.

Yes, things are different in Texas. My ex girlfriend from LA visitied me in January and summed it up: Texas is harsher and tougher, and Texas makes no apologies. The same goes for its people.

I’d bleed for Texas (but would prefer to make any dumb bastard who crossed us bleed instead). Many native born Texans may not consider me to be a Texan. Fair enough. But I do.

“Rick Perry has a history of acrimony with George W. Bush
That’s a big plus. “

Yup. it’s really overstating it, they got on well, but Bush just was NOT THAT CONSERVATIVE, especially on spending.

I’m from KS but lived mostly in OK. Don’t feed me Perry, when I can have Palin.

Good points, all of ‘em.

Welcome FReeper. Texas can be harsh, but it is a good place to call home.

I gar-on-tee.

No natural born Texan will ever accept you on the surface, it is the deeds that make you one of us.

Good on ya, ignore all that native Texan stuff, Col. David Crockett wan’t born here either, but he is one of our heroes.

C’mon POlybius, cut people some slack here.
COD was the right vote simply because we needed to weed out the RINOs and Castle was an uber-RINO. When you have a choice between a liberal and a conservative, take the conservative.

Perry is far from unelectable. But he IS weak on immigration, to be more precise,
he has cheap labor lobby supporters and the TAB folks to DO want real immigration bills ... its why tough immigration bills (Berman’s bills) constantly languish at the statehouse.

Perry demagogues about ‘securing the border’ which is the code word for “I’ll try to stop them furrigners from getting here, but if they are doing our landscaping, i wont mess with them.”

People need to know what they are getting in candidates. Trust me, the risk of the GOP nominating someone ‘too conservative’ is fairly small.

bush certainly was happy to run large deficits while in washington, I don’t see anything to argue about there. He added trillions to the federal debt. Only the nightmare of the obama deficits can make his look anything but disastrous.

The man didn’t veto a single bill for something like 6 years, and I am not sure if he ever vetoed a spending bill.

Perry was G W’s lieutenant governor. They know each other well.

Actually the Texas Governor does not have a Lt. Governor in the same sense as the Governor of most other states. In Texas, the Governor and Lt. Governor do not run as a team and seldom is either dependent on or beholden to the other. When Bush was first elected Governor, the Lt. Governor was a longtime Democrat (Bob Bullock) who had much more power and influence that Bush. The Governor has limited executive power while the Lt. Governor is a very powerful legislative official.

Texas's unique governmental structure makes the Governor's office an ideal position from which to seek national office as the incumbent is in a position to claim credit for everything that goes well while avoiding blame for anything that goes wrong.

GRRRRRRRRR ;)

I don’t know if the US will vote for another Texas Governor, but we’ll see in the Primaries.

I’m an Okie, too. That makes both of us Damn Yankees, according to the natives. North of the Red River, Yankee!

I still support dip stations at the border for people coming south, I done had mine. It’s just a joke, the people here are all about the rivalry.

FRiend, she’s running.

That depends on how cynical she is. Today, I am giving her the benefit of the doubt and predicting that she will do the right thing and not guarantee Obama reelection or yank her suporters' chains too much.

These are NOT the numbers of a candidate that has ANY chance of winning a Presidential election. Regardless of the media spin, Sarah Palin is not dumb. She knows perfectly well what her actual chances of getting elected President are: None.

FOX News Poll (February 7-9, 2011)

Question 3: I am going to read you a list of names. Tell me if you think that person would make a good President or not.

Sarah Palin:

.................YES.........NO.......DK.....Never heard of

ALL...........23%.......72%.........4%.......1%

Dem ...........7%........87%........5%.......1%

Rep ...........40%.......56%.......3%.......1%

Ind ...........25%........69%.......3%.......1%

But, on my more cynical days, I can tell you exactly why she keeps teasing you with the possibility that she will run and may very well pretend to run like Donald Trump did.

Why keep her adoring supporters guessing with the teasing about running when Bristol said this week that she and Sarah discussed the matter and her mother "definitely knows"?

Because that is where the money is:

After praising Palin, Coulter goes on to say that she does not think that Palin will run for president. Hannity counters by saying that Coulter is "unnecessarily narrowing the field" and that Palin has publicly said she is still considering a run. It is at this point that Coulter reveals, "I think she's saying that because she also said Newt Gingrich told her you can get higher speaking fees if you pretend you are running for President."

There is your answer:

" .... you can get higher speaking fees if you pretend you are running for President."

Pretending to run for the Presidency "enhances your brand":

Trump's mission in life is to "Enhance the Trump Brand". That is a fact and running for President therefore makes all the sense in the world. ...... 5 posted on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 6:32:08 PM by Polybius

That translates into notoriety which translates into big, fat Reality TV show contracts.

This week, Bristol said, "You know, she definitely knows. We've talked about it before. Some things just need to stay in the family."

"Some things just need to stay in the family"?

Bristol tells the entire World, (including her son that will read it in the future when he is 15 years old) about pre-marital sex on drunken, coed camping trips with the father of her son (who is very publicly trashed in the same book) but .....

"Some things just need to stay in the family"?

Huh?

If some things "just need to stay in the family", shouldn't that be right at the top of the list?

Why would a political decision be more sacred than the most intimate details of the personal lives of Tripp Johnston's parents?

Because saying that Sarah Palin's adoring fans are being strung along in order to maximize profits will hurt the money-making potential of the Palin family. That definitely needs to "stay in the family".

Sarah Palin knows perfectly well that a serious Presidential campaign can leave you in a financial hole.

For (Hillary) Clinton, Millions in Debt and Few Options

Sarah Palin has found her niche as a very successful and very highly paid celebrity entertainer. She likes that niche .... a lot.

"I'd rather be doing this than in some stuffy old political office," the former vice presidential candidate declares in the just-released trailer for her TLC reality show

If Sarah Palin runs, she will stick her toe in the water just enough to enhance her registered trademark Sarah Palin™ brand just like Donald Trump did to further his often stated efforts to continuously "enhance the Trump brand".

Once the financial purpose has been served, Sarah Palin will bail out to, once again, concentrate on $100,000 speaking fees and Reality TV show deals for herself and for Bristol.

Then, if past performance is an indicator of future performance, they will be raking in $12 million every two years.

Sarah Palin income 12 million dollars since leaving office

Actually governing in the "stuffy old political office" that has the highest heat of any political kitchen?

Forget about it. That's not where the easy money is.

The easy money is in Reality TV shows and on $100,000 speeches. (Bristol charges between $15,000 and $30,000 per speech.)

Sarah Palin and Bristol Palin have carved out an extremely lucrative niche in the entertainment industry. They, like other Reality TV celebrities, will pull political publicity stunts to "enhace their brand" but, from now on, the Palin family business is not fishing and it is not politics. From now on, the Palin family business will be firmly based on lucrative speaking fees, books and Reality TV shows.

Politics will be used, as Trump used politics, only to "enhance the Sarah Palim™ Brand".

Once the teasing about running or the Donald Trump-style pretend run has served it's financial purpose, Sarah Palin will do the right thing and endorse the most conservative candidate that can actually defeat Obama in 2012.

At the moment, that happens to be Rick Perry. Sarah Palin knows that and Sarah Palin has been acting accordingly.

MAY 31, 2011 .... Palin plugs Perry: "I really like him" .... Unprompted, Sarah Palin brought up Rick Perry's name yesterday as a strong presidential candidate. "I think he would be a fine candidate.... we have a lot in common. I really like him.

Once Rick Perry runs, Sarah Palin can then keep on making her millions of dollars as an entertainer and can claim that she was a "King Maker". A serious candidate with ten and a half years of experience as the Governor of the second most populous State in the Union can then actually DEFEAT Obama in 2012.

I meant that the Bildeberg crowd of radical conspiracy theorists make our state of affairs seem hopeless and therefore the mentions of Bildeberg rank high on my “skip this” list. No offense meant. :)

Sarah Palin is not your average person, wife, woman, person, politician, leader. I don’t flatter myself but my sense of her is perfect.
She has the hand of God on her. Your pathetic attempt to equate her with money is pathetic. If she doesn’t win the presidency then what political currency does she have. Faux News?
This election is over, even though you don’t know it. Palin is the President. Guaranteed.

Perry’s vaccination order still stoking fires

AUSTIN — Blowback continued at the Capitol on Wednesday over Gov. Rick Perry’s order mandating
that schoolgirls be vaccinated against a sexually transmitted disease linked to cervical cancer.

Critics rip Perry’s vaccine mandate
Governor rejects opponents’ calls to reverse order

AUSTIN — Gov. Rick Perry stood firm Monday against a political firestorm generated by his
order that sixth-grade girls be inoculated against a sexually transmitted virus linked to cervical cancer.

Social conservatives from Texas to Washington called on Perry to reverse his order making
Texas the first state to require the vaccine, saying the mandate makes sex seem permissible
and that parents should be the ones to decide whether to immunize their daughters.
And several Texas lawmakers expressed outrage at Perry for circumventing the legislative process.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/26/us/26texas.html

The vaccine, Gardasil, is manufactured by Merck, which was represented in Austin by the
lobbyist Mike Toomey, who was chief of staff for Mr. Perry from 2002 to 2004.

Have you noticed that the drooling libs and PDS’ers have been saying the same things? ..... Gator113

Actually, the libs never say that Palin cannot win. They just use Palin to ridicule the entire GOP just as they once used Dan Quayle.

It is polls such as this one from FOX News (Sarah Palin's employer and softball interview provider) that tell any rational person that Sarah Palin cannot possibly win a Presidential election.

Then again, members of a Cult of Personality are seldom rational.

Christine took out Castle, a great result, and caused the Democrat media to talk nothing about what the Democrats might do, nothing about what a Republican House might mean, and only about how silly Christine O’Donnell was.

Result: Biggest Republican Gains in the House in 72 or so years.

Victory Christine.

Now, there was Republican running in Maryland. He lost, just like Christine did. But you don’t hear about him. You don’t hear about 2 seats in NY, or Oregon, Vermont or Hawaii. Nope, lots of Republican failures there, but you don’t hear about them, because those were RINO failures.

I’m happy that Castle is gone.
