On MSNBC you can call a sitting president a "murderous" "fascist" even muse about putting the President on trial for war crimes, so long as that president is a Republican. But if you dare call a Democratic president a "dck," as MSNBC analyst Mark Halperin did this morning it's grounds for indefinite suspension.
The following is a collection of quotes from MSNBC employees past (Keith Olbermann) and present (Chris Matthews, Ron Reagan Jr.) who had some particularly distasteful things to say about a then sitting President George W. Bush:
Hi, my name is Richard, people call me Dick all the time.
Hey, when people tell damned lies about you, it's bad. But when they tell the damned truth, it's completely unbearable!
Two wrongs (or a dozen) don’t make a right.
Just imagine what the late NASCAR driver Dick Trickle had to put up with!
Yes, if Halfabrain had said the same thing about any Republican or conservative they’d be planning his ticker tape parade.
Foul language like di&^ is only used by moronic, angry little twirps. Not that I don’t agree with him, I just don’t think a “commentator” should resort to that kind of language. It’s infantile.
Someone on MSNBC called Obama a dick?
At least they were being honest for once.
To be fair a lot of people on our side did the same thing.
Yes, Halperin does owe Cheney an apology.
It would have been more interesting if Halperin had used the “clean” version and said Obama is a jerk. I rather suspect the result would be the same.
Obviously the mind challenged idiot doesn't understand Fascism otherwise Obama would not have been left out of his statement.
MSNBC seems to be consistent anyway.
The rumors about unrest within the White House (and it appears some media talking heads) shouldn't be disregarded.
The Africa trip, the golf games, and blaming Republicans for debt ceiling problems are things Americans are quickly tiring of while democrats (and the Obama family personally) spend, spend, spend our taxpayer dollars. When democrats make serious cuts to unnecessary programs, and Obama actually shows up to make the cuts, perhaps then progress will be made. Democrats tell us to make sacrifices while they refuse to make even one and in the same breath, tell us they want to raise taxes even more. They are corrupt, incompetent and the most sleazy politicians in America ever.
Yes, they are MUCH more harsh and nasty with their diatribe toward Bush.
And imagine what Halperin must be imagining at this moment: "I tell the stone cold truth...and I get suspended for it. It's not supposed to work this way..."
If anyone ever thinks they have the capacity for professional consistency beyond what advances their political Aims, then that person is sincerely mistaken.
This is what the Media is in the age of high tech - real time Internet.
An advocacy group dedicated the the advancement of a Supremacist Central Government.
We would have a better chance fighting the Borg.
The difference is O is black, Bush is not. Well, and O is Liberal, Bush is a Quasi Conservative.
Calling a conservative (even a weak one like Bush) a “Fascist” is humorous, since all the great Fascist movements have been Liberal, not Conservative....
Non-sequitur.
Mark Halperin was suspended not because he was bad mouthing 0bama. It was for leaking a national secret about 0bama.
Thus, validating what all their critics say that they are an Obama worshiping channel that pretends they are an objective news source. If Obama had an “R” by his name instead of a “D”, then I can promise you NOTHING would have happened.
>>> MSNBC Hosts Called Bush Fascist, Murderous and War Criminal, Never Faced Suspensions
True enough but that was the GE era. MSNBC then was nakedly a left-wing dem voice in business only to undercut and attack Bush.
Under Comcast the rules seem to be changing. MSNBC still is leftwing but not so that Olbermann could keep his job. Schultz came within a hair of being fired. Maddow too has toned it down. Halprin being suspended is consistent with the new regime.
