save yourselves! leave us dogs in the bay area to twist in the wind...
i wish it could work but i think i recall that the constitution will require approval from ca and the congress.
Yep.
Kentucky was ceded willingly, just as Tennessee was by North Carolina, in 1785 and 1792 respectively. NC once reached the Pacific, by the way the colonial charter was written.
I thought they had outlawed the Constitution. Nobody follows it, in our government, anymore.
Yep. Not to mention that LA county is not one of those suggested to be part of the new state. NoCal would be paying SoCal for water, or maybe doing without. Me, I’d cut the aquaduct, and all the pipes...
I’m from LA county. As far from it as I can get. ;)
Although if they succeed in seceding, I just might go back to visit my desert.
OS
Definitely. I can’t think of many states with such a vivid difference, maybe PA’s T region as opposed to Philly and Pittsburgh.
“NC once reached the Pacific, by the way the colonial charter was written.”
even though we had to buy it from Napoleon, to whom it did
not even belong...
Not only that, Northern east CA, for the most part, is far more conservative than the south. The way this guy has the split he would just be creating another liberal state. We need to split the state up the middle, maybe taking Orange county with us. Leave LA, SF, and Sac in the old CA state.
We drove through northern California a few months ago. There’s a barn right alongside the I-5 with ‘State of Jefferson’ on the roof. They’d just love to be free from the Southern Californians!
Im all for it, so long as San Francisco and Marin County remain part of the South state.
Where do I sign?
Oh my! People are starting to notice that when the dimoc’rats are in charge, everything goes to hades.
Politics as usual

I fully support this idea, and wouldn’t mind breaking CA into 3 states.
The biggest benefit to the rest of the country is that it breaks up the 55 electoral votes that would automatically go to the National Socialist Democrat Worker’s Party.
It would be almost impossible for another Donk to be elected President.
West Virginia left Virginia when Virginia seceded into the Confederacy.
I think the main problem is that the U.S. Congress has to accept the new State as a State... fat chance department.
However, we could march to Sacramento and bitch a lot. How about in October when the weather is cooler?
The libs hate us. They want an excuse to kill us.
Possible on paper, highly improbably in practice. I’d support it 100%.
I doubt that it is possible but they are making a very big statement that can not be ignored.
Wikipedia's summary has this prophetic quote from Senator Everett Dirksen of Illinois who led an unsuccessful fight to pass a Constitutional amendment allowing unequal legislative districts.
Dirksen warned that "...the forces of our national life are not brought to bear on public questions solely in proportion to the weight of numbers. If they were, the 6 million citizens of the Chicago area would hold sway in the Illinois Legislature without consideration of the problems of their 4 million fellows who are scattered in 100 other counties. Under the Court's new decree, California could be dominated by Los Angeles and San Francisco; Michigan by Detroit.."
That is exactly what happen to CA!
The irony of this particulate case is it prove the fallacy of the idea that the dictates of the Federal employees in black robes could be controlled with future amendments.
It took a decade and after that decade we had finally came within 1 state of a 2nd Constitutional convention over this edict. But by the end of that time too many of the States had been taken over by the power greedy urban centers.
Leftist urban areas who of course had no interest in allowing the rest of the State to have a veto over their abusive self-serving manipulation of the common state goverment.
The system the Advocates of the Federal injustice system claim to exist checking their tyranny failed catastrophically yet again.
