Posted on 07/02/2011 6:07:01 AM PDT by markomalley
American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten recently led a delegation of union representatives to Cairo, Egypt to meet with leaders of Egyptian unions that were instrumental in the recent political and governmental changes there, according to a news release issued by the union.
Whoa. Are public sector unions planning a similar regime change here in America?
If not, why would Weingarten be cavorting in the Middle East at a time when American public schools are seeing massive dropout rates, budget reductions and reforms that strike at the base of union power?
Details are scant regarding Weingartens trip or agenda. The union didnt identify her traveling companions, the Egyptian unions they met with, or what action plan may have been devised.
Meanwhile, Weingarten hailed the launch of a global Quality Public Services Campaign.
It would be wise for the union to focus on quality public services at home because in far too many communities in America, they stink. And Weingartens union bears much of the blame for the lack of quality, at least in public school classrooms.
As for her travels in Egypt, it would be interesting to know exactly what she has up her sleeve. Why does she want to learn more about the successful overthrow of the former Egyptian government? Is she targeting the Obama regime, or taxpayers who in Weingartens view are not coughing up enough for public education and school employees?
Somebody isn’t paying attention. Obama is on the same side.
Being concerned that the new Egyptian leadership might throw her to the mob to rape and molest I looked up her pictures at: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Randi+Weingarten&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1108&bih=587&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi
I’d have to say she’s definitely “safe” from attack.
Looks to me like she would have to sneak up on a mirror....she should be plenty safe in Egypt.....even those ragheads have standards....
Thank you for not posting evidence of this.
Scumbags like Wiengarten only want to overthrow certain parts of our government. Civil unrest can be used to keep people in power as well as remove them.
I haven’t forgotten seeing Obama on a jumbo screen in Cairo calling for Mubarak to step down right now.
WASHINGTONThe American Federation of Teachers joins with workers around the world to launch a new campaign aimed at advancing quality public services in every nation.
The AFT is proud to be a full partner in the Council of Global Unions Quality Public ServicesAction Now! campaign to support investment in the services that create jobs and provide the foundation for long-term economic growth. The council is highlighting and supporting essential public services that keep our communities strong and help build sustainable, healthy economies.
From Wisconsin to Cairo, citizens have been fighting efforts to keep workers silent. As public employees in Wisconsin continue their struggle to maintain collective bargaining rights, Wisconsin has been selected as a pilot site in the Quality Public ServicesAction Now! campaign, through the AFT-affiliated Wisconsin Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals and AFT-Wisconsin.
Defending public services and the workers who provide them is a worldwide challenge, and the AFT is standing with allies around the globe to maintain those services and the rights of public employees. Thats why I led an AFT delegation that visited Egypt to meet with the independent Egyptian unions whose efforts proved decisive in bringing down the corrupt regime that ruled their country for decades.
Bump for later.
I have to ask, what is an American Jewish woman going to get accomplished in Egypt?
Unless the government pre-planned this trip for her.
Maybe she's hoping for the Lara Logan treament?
Just kidding! It's a joke! I'm just having a little fun, here!
But you never know.
Double Bagger,Typical Rat woman,Ugly inside and out!
She’s NOT flying there on Saudi Air, f’sure
$5 dollar foot long.
Maybe they want advice on better marginalizing and excluding the influence of Christians from the government schools.
She can hope but they’re not going to deliver. Like the man said they got standards!
cavorting in the Middle East at a time when American public schools are seeing massive dropout rates, budget reductions and reforms that strike at the base of union powerWhy should anything have changed? It's not as if there's any real accountability.
