Posted on 07/02/2011 1:49:24 PM PDT by The Magical Mischief Tour
Pima County Republican Party leaders voted late Thursday to take party chairman Brian Millers keys to the GOP headquarters away and call a special meeting to try to remove him from his post.
Miller has been under fire from party stalwarts for the past month, with multiple meetings called in recent weeks after he criticized a SWAT raid in May that resulted in the shooting death of a man law enforcement officers said they suspected of involvement in drug dealing.
Several elected officials and party leaders have complained that his comments pitted the party against law enforcement at a time when city elections are looming and candidates are gearing up for bigger 2012 races.
After questions were raised about the amount of police force used in serving a search warrant Miller said he hoped the incident would foster community discussion of the policies that routinely lead to heavily armed and militarized local police invading private homes and a renewed interest in the civil liberties codified in our Bill of Rights.
After Miller refused to resign, the executive committee voted 10-2 to order Miller to cease and desist from acting as an agent of the county committee and return his keys.
Barney Brenner, a member of the committee who voted to seek Millers removal, said he wished Miller had resigned to help heal the party.
Brenner said the action doesnt reflect a rift between more libertarian-leaning Republicans, like Miller, and other more traditional party members.
This is solely about the best interests of the Pima County Republican Party, Brenner said, adding regardless of whether Miller meant it to happen, his words damaged the party and the ability of its candidates to raise money and support.
Miller said it is the executive committee that has kept the controversy in the forefront, by continuing to call these meetings to complain about his leadership.
He said hes been consistent in defending the constitution.
This is a political witch hunt, he said, adding, If they wanted it dropped, they would have dropped it three weeks ago.
The meeting has yet to be scheduled. A two-thirds vote of the elected precinct committeemen will be required to remove him from office.
Miller said if he survives, he will then call a special meeting of his own to ask the precinct committeemen to vote on the performance of each member of the executive committee.
Funny, its a bit like some “conservatives” here, speak out against law enforcement, no matter how criminal their actions might be and you are labeled anti-cop and subject to attacks and retaliation...
And not to mention the Sheriff of Pima County is a flaming left wing anti-gun RAT, who blamed the shooting of Congresswoman Giffords on the Tea party...
So, who’s side is the Republican Party of Pima County really on?
So, whos side is the Republican Party of Pima County really on?
B I N G O!
Hmmmm. I wonder what part of Conservatism out-of-control murdering cops belong to. I’m trying to figure out where it comes under the general heading of the govt being there to protect the citizenry. I guess I’m missing something.
Clowns like Hannity will never countenance any critical comment of LEO’s, even when their behavior crosses the line into felonious criminal activity. For the lock-step Republicans, the law can never be wrong.
Unless we’re talking about efforts to enforce the laws against fraud on banks. Then that’s a zealous over-reaching effort.
“So, whos side is the Republican Party of Pima County really on?”
The same side as the GOP at large - the The Status Quo.
So, these little puppet republicans are siding with Dupnik? I don’t put the primary blame on the SWAT team for the disaster. I blame Dupnik, the guy who ordered the raid, for reasons he has been unable to explain.
This is why John McCain was re-elected. The AZ GOP is run by jelly-spined RINOs.
Proves beyond a doubt that republicans put their party before principles. No different from democrats.
And is not this same department that blamed the Gilfort shooting on Sarah Palin?
The National Marxist/Progressive democrat side. Who else???
Law enforcement in this country is completely out of control.
Then Pima County Republican Party leaders should be investigated.
Whoa!!! (principles and democrats) in the same sentence?
Rats may be the party of BIG gov’t, but Pubs are the party of BRUTAL gov’t, at least in Pima county.
One word stood out to me in this article: “suspected”.
“Suspected” cost this man his life.
This agency became judge, jury, and excecutioner the moment the first swat team member pulled the trigger. All just to execute a search warrant.
Now they want to shut this guy down because he has the audacity to question the LEO’s motives and methods.
I don’t know the gentleman and did not know that Pima County even had a GOP organization. Has it ever won an election?
Party over principle.
I don’t think you people understand the situation in Arizona.
Mexican devil-worshiping gangs are hiring trained Marines as their military arm. The President and Congress are letting local cops fight the invasion of crazed illegal aliens all alone.
People in Arizona are growing fearful - this is how Americans lose their freedom.
All of you cop haters are assisting the gangs.
How about some contempt for a trained Marine who turns on America and is a traitor?
Your statements are borderline treason my friend.
Show me one shred of evidence this US MARINE was guilty of ANY CRIME, or SHUT UP...
There is a reason the Pima Co SO has changed its story 6 times and the local TV Station KGUN has started calling them on it.
There is a reason the ENTIRE SWAT Team hired a criminal defense lawyer.
And there is a reason why the Pima County Sheriff issued a standing order for ALL his deputies to not talk to anyone about this event, for any reason.
The evidence is clear to anyone who has the common sense God gave a rock the SWAT Team murdered this man for no lawful reason.
They are obviously qualified, no spine, no stones, no brains.
So sez the open borders crowd, LOL.
More worried about votes than the death of a man by Cops.
Yep, Thats the Republican Party allright.
Not that democrats are any better.
\Votes is all either of them worry about
Most lame attempt I ever seen to insert ridiculous babble into a discussion when you obviously have no defense for your position.
Do you see anyone trying to reason with the people on these threads?
“So, whos side is the Republican Party of Pima County really on?”
The same side any big government RinoCrat outfit is on...that which extends and expands government power...
Which ones are you referring to?
Isn’t is interesting that AZTLAN people agree with those on this thread?
US Marine is Maligned by Bigoted Media and Police
You make a great point.
How about providing PROOF of your wild assertions before you go spouting off, mmm-kay?
I can't tell if you are attacking Republicans who stand up against police excesses, or attacking Republicans who knee jerk fashion defend any police action no matter how excessive.
Trying to figure that one out.
Maybe they are afraid he'll arrange for their assassination like he may have done for that Republican judge.
You got it with that one...
Gangland - Basic Training (Gangs in the military)
THAT's the reason you won't provide proof?
I think the real reason you won't provide prood is that none exists.
Obviously the SWAT raid was botched ~ shouldn't take 72 rounds to kill a man who hasn't fired at you unless, of course, he has one of those secret WALLET PISTOLS like that poor dude in New York, or someone else thinks the undercover officer was correct in figuring EMNMs "Gonna get my gun" was a threat!
Sometimes cops are wrong and forget that they are walking around with guns. They could ahve easily killed this guy's wife and child ~ their reaction would be the same and the Republican Committee would be ousting their newly selected (by them) chairman.
I think that's what's most disturbing. These guys hinge on the dope issue but the rest of us look at the level of violence they seem to tolerate as normal in that part of the world and we come up with totally different impressions.
So, is the question for the committee the chairman's criticism of the cops or is it that by coming out in the open that way some additional aspect of the spread of doper culture and the money that comes with it might inadvertently be revealed?
Again, I suspect it's the dope. Others think it's the violence. Combined it means Pima County is no place to go for a vacation!
Gang Activity in the U.S. Military (threat to law enforcement)
Now link that information to the Marine they assasinated.
South America is nice.
and we would still get a whitewash by the FBI,Like we have in so many of these cases involving police misconduct
Pima County Chief Criminal Deputy Attorney David:
“A close examination of the rifle revealed it appeared to have been damaged by being fired upon from such an angle that it must have been pointed toward officers”.
You accused a specific individual of being a gangbanger. Please provide your proof of HIS involvement with the druggies, as the SD that murdered him couldn’t seem to find any. Otherwise, your humble apology is strongly recommended.
Self-serving statements from officials who are way too closely connected to the killers do NOT count for squat. Better luck next time.
Another case of “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” of the establishment.
