There are rumors in the international media that she had cold feet recently, but was pursuaded to go through with the wedding.

How did they meet anyway? At an YMCA swimming class?

I assume that she didn’t marry him for his hair, his looks or his wonderfully-achieving ancestors, none of which factors seem to exist (I read a story one time that Onassis owned the Monte Carlo casino which was going under — smart businessthing that he was, he knew the saving grace would be to find some Hollywood glamourpuss for the ugly “Prince” Rainer, so here comes Princess Grace - how she decided on that deal is beyond me, but it saved Monaco and more importantly, from Onassis’ perspective, the casino. But, having fathered three or four illegitimate children, the new Princess must at least now know that their son is either not gay or that he is both left- and right-handed.

What a mess that family is. I used to be interested in Grace Kelly and her move to Princess Grace, but it is far from fairy tale. It was not a great love and her son Albert puts on another show. Anyone find it creepy he found a woman somewhat similar in appearance to his mother?

This is what happens when people are caught up in being a Princess. Albert cannot be an easy guy to love and trust and he likes to play obviously, but they need to put on a show and he needs a wife and heir. Royalty is such a joke with Monaco being the perfect example of it.

Caroline had a son/sons, but her husband that fathered them was killed in a boating accident.

In my experience with women, they value power and stature in a much higher regard than looks when it comes to men. It is like that the world round. No need to be so bitter about it. Women actually find it attractive that a man is successful, whether they want to admit it or not and theyd rather not most of the time as common folk would refer to them as whores, which isnt the case really.

The attendants are children wearing the Mongasque national costume.
This wedding had way too much hokum for my taste. The outdoor staging in the courtyard instead of a church was untraditional and a faux pas, IMHO.
Compared to the magnificence and inspiration in the traditional Anglican Book of Common Prayer Marriage Service at William and Kate’s wedding, this one did not compare.

Thanks for posting the story. After all the hoopla and 3 month buildup, the wedding was a big snooze, IMO.
The dress was less than I expected... Not very memorable, and IIRC almost a direct copy of Victoria of Sweden’s wedding dress.
The guests looked old, tired, and bored.
This family is the Euro Soap Opera- an ongoing operetta of a completely dysfunctional family.

It was a classy Continental wedding without the circus clown hats that the vulgar German royalty was sporting recently in London.

The wedding was held outdoors because the cathedral was too small to seat all of the guests. Since you’re making comparisons to William and Kate, let’s talk FASHION. As an amateur fashion critic I would give the nod to Charlene. Her dress was modern, sleek, and gorgeous. The upswept hair with the diamond spray and veil attached at the back was elegant—very Grace Kelly.

As an amateur fashion critic I strongly disagree about the dress. Charlene’s dress was elegant, original with its beading and sparkle. Her upswept hair and veil made her look regal. I would give Charlene’s dress a 10 if you compare it to other royal brides: Diana-hideous, crumpled kleenex with BOWS, Fergie-too busy with the overdone beading and a BOW on the train, Victoria of Sweden-elegant dress, but boring, no sparkle or beads and a GOLD tin can on her head, Letizia-looked like a coat with an Elvis collar and heavy, long sleeves, Kate-Grace Kelly copycat, too much lace, and the schoolgirl hair and boring veil was just WRONG.

"And I’m not sure that either sister is married to their fathers."

Princess Caroline, Albert's older sister, has two sons and one daughter from her marriage to Stefano Casiraghi who died in 1990.

Pierre, Charlotte and Andrea Casiraghi attend wedding dinner for Prince Albert and Princess Charlene
