Justice Ginsburg's future plans closely watched

Democrats and liberals have a nightmare vision of the Supreme Court's future: President Barack Obama is defeated for re-election next year and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, at 78 the oldest justice, soon finds her health will not allow her to continue on the bench.

The new Republican president appoints Ginsburg's successor, cementing conservative domination of the court, and soon the justices roll back decisions in favor of abortion rights and affirmative action.

But Ginsburg could retire now and allow Obama to name a like-minded successor whose confirmation would be in the hands of a Democratic-controlled Senate. "She has in her power the ability to prevent a real shift in the balance of power on the court," said Erwin Chemerinsky, dean of the University of California at Irvine law school. "On the other hand, there's the personal. How do you decide to leave the United States Supreme Court?"

For now, Ginsburg's answer is, you don't.

There are few more indelicate questions to put to a Supreme Court justice, but Ginsburg has said gracefully, and with apparent good humor, that the president should not expect a retirement letter before 2015.

Perhaps she really cares about the constitution. Pray she stays in good health for this perilous time.

I doubt it. She cares more about advancing what she wants to advance, whether it lines up with the Constitution or not.

“The new Republican president appoints Ginsburg’s successor, cementing conservative domination of the court, and soon the justices roll back decisions in favor of abortion rights and affirmative action.”

For starters.

Wouldn’t she retire now then? Get some 40 something year old commie on the court? I’m scratching my head on this one.

From Wiki:

"Generally, she votes with the liberal wing of the Court. She is the second female justice (after Sandra Day O'Connor) and the first Jewish female justice."

Ruth Bader Ginsburg

“Perhaps she really cares about the constitution.”

Bwhahaha! The old bat just really thinks Obama will get re-elected, so she can snooze on the bench for 4 more years.

Dear Justice Ginsberg

Hang in there long enough so that you can be President Palin's first supreme court replacement!

If I was Ginsberg, I’d make sure my car wasn’t winged before 2012.

soon finds her health will not allow her to continue on the bench.

It is too late for that, her health and inability to stay awake should have prompted her to retire years ago.

Ginsberg has her own agenda. In this case, she believes her seat on the court is now “the Jewish seat”, and she will only step aside with the guarantee that somebody else who is Jewish will get the seat.

And Obama does not like Jews. So his first choice to fill her seat would be an ultra radical, with a second choice for a black extremist.

Ironically, she sees only her seat as a Jewish seat, even though there are two other Jews on the court, Stephen Breyer and Elena Kagan. Ginsberg sees their seats as just “generic”.

No doubt this is being floated as a message to her by libs so that Obama can put another younger sotomarxist on the court.

Ginsburg isn’t ready to give up the power. Look what’s she going to do after she’s out? What’s she got to look forward to? She can’t influence anyone. Not the way she can creating liberal law out of thin air.

Liberals are taught from birth that their happiness is the most important thing. God first then others then you is a laugh. And I’ve seen it in dedicated liberal homes - first seek your own personal happiness - that’s more important than anything else.

My guess is Justice Ginsburg simply isn’t goint to give way until she decides she’s good and ready.

Justice Ginsburg's future plans closely watched

She plans to get more rest in the future. They are going to carry her out to her car, drive her to the SC, carry her to her office, carry her to court, carry her home, carry her to bed. That should do it!
