That Perry’s EO contained the word mandate in the first place says he never intended for there to be an option - he would have said so.

Facts Facts Facts.... Just trying to keep the info as accurate as possible.

http://governor.state.tx.us/news/executive-order/3455/
EO RP65 February 02, 2007

snip.....
Rules.
The Health and Human Services Executive Commissioner shall adopt rules that mandate the age appropriate vaccination of all female children for HPV prior to admission to the sixth grade..........

Parents’ Rights.
The Department of State Health Services will, in order to protect the right of parents to be the final authority on their children’s health care, modify the current process in order to allow parents to submit a request for a conscientious objection affidavit form via the Internet while maintaining privacy safeguards under current law.....

end snips

The EO was dated 2-02-07 and the Legislature passed legislation voiding the EO and the legislation became law on May 8, 2007. Thus no one was given Gardasil under the EO

Diogenesis, you are lying through ommission. You quote a sentence from Texas RP65 but leave out the following from the text of the EO....

"Parents’ Rights. The Department of State Health Services will, in order to protect the right of parents to be the final authority on their children’s health care, modify the current process in order to allow parents to submit a request for a conscientious objection affidavit form via the Internet while maintaining privacy safeguards under current law."

That is the fact and your are a liar.

Why must someone swear to be a “conscientious objection”
to be FREE, you RomneyBOT?

You serve Mitt Romney and RomneyCARE.

No wonder you LOVE the idea of dosing helpless children
without informed consent.

It was a MANDATE. Like RomneyCARE, it was FASCISM.

Go back to DU.

Thanks for your reply. I'd already read that link (some time ago) but re-read it to see if it said that "Perry was going to get a cut of any Merck sales". It didn't.

PERRY GOT $6000 SHEKELS. (plus stock sales ... shhhhhhh)

So, you didn't answer MY question but attempted to deflect it by asking a new question. (A common tactic) This shows you can't support your claim that Perry was taking kick-backs from Merk. I can only conclude you personally made that up or are parroting what somebody else made up.

This was not an attempt to attack you in any way. You are entitled to your opinion whatever it is. That said, I believe FReepers should be held accountable for their postings and keep it to their personal experiences, or statements that can be supported by facts from reputable sources. More light and less heat would benefit us all.

Why didn't Perry rescind his own EO? Why make the legislature do it?

LOL....... He just issue the thing two months prior to the legislature voiding it. That’s what goverment is about. Each branch has its own functions to provide. He did the EO and the Legislature did the law making.

The point being he did leave an opt out position available to parents if they so chose regardless of how it’s spun that he didn’t.

to see that something was rotten between Gov.Perry
and Gardasil.

So are you paid by the post? or by the thread?

The point is that HIS CHIEF OF STAFF worked for Merck.

Did everyone in Texas know that?

It is reprehensible.

Running Perry would be the same as running W. in 2012 and will hand Obama a third term. They look alike , talk alike and are both globalist compassionate corporate conservatives who tote bibles for votes. If I was Obama , Perry would be a dream come true. Remind everyone of all the reasons they kicked the republicans out in 08.

Why didn't Perry rescind his own EO? Why make the legislature do it?

I've been thinking about this raybbr and I am not a mind reader but it strikes me that Gov. Perry truly believed this vaccine would have helped a lot of people in Texas who otherwise might not have gotten this protection against cervical cancer (it was to help with 3 strains of the human papilloma virus HPV).

Rick Perry's wife Anita Perry was a nurse for many years and still is involved in health care as First Lady of Texas, so I imagine health care is something this governor is more aware of than maybe your "average" governor.

Another FReeper had some thoughts on this issue.

Then too Rick Perry grew up in a poor home and he might be sensitive about something he believed would have helped those who might get this cancer. Instead of applying the worst motives, perhaps his were good.

"He grew up in West Texas, in a farm town so small it literally was not on the state map until Perry, as governor, put it there. Life was austere; Perry was 6 before the family had indoor plumbing. His mother sewed his clothes, including the underwear Perry wore to college......" Source

And when the people of Texas said they didn't want this vaccine given, he let the people's representatives vote on it and did not oppose it.

It's time to move on to something else. It doesn't matter if Perry is not perfect, no one else is either. What matters is if he is conservative enough and if he can defeat Obama.

FWIW, I was at an event last night with a group of 8 Republicans. There were 2 Cain supporters and 6 of us leaning Perry. Among my circle of friends and relatives, the buzz is Perry.

That quote was from "Kelly's Heroes" Donald Sutherlund's character Odd Ball.

When Perry addresses it, it will be time to "move on".

Until then, Perry's "love" for open borders and
all things Gardasil makes him a RINO's RINO.

coma-even death have been reported

LOL........... $6000 SHEKELS wouldn’t even get them in the hello line. A five digit number may have gotten them in the meet/handshake line.

Have you EVER watched one of those ads for Rx on TV -- "YOU could have the sensation of death, feelings of suicide, acting out suicide, stomach aches, sore throat, dry eyes, crooked teeth, bad joints, sore muscles, falling out hair........" (ALL THE WHILE the backdrop is showing a picnic with butterfies, cuddly puppies and bluebonnets)?

YET the Rx is for sale.

What is your bag?
