They will raise the limit. We lose. The kenyan wins. The country loses. The socialist project advances due to the lack of comprehension and cupidity of the Republicans.

NO deals Cut the federal budget.p>Won't happen. These fellows are all Republicans. They have no interest in getting the country back on its feet, only in being invited to the Socialists' cocktail parties.

So do I, but the jack wagons in DC are seeing to it I don’t have enough money for that (and what money I do have certainly does not go far enough these days)

Hell, I wouldn't mind if they had a vote on the debt ceiling every day to make it impossible to do anything except argue about the debt ceiling. Every morning, decide whether the government needs one more day without the real issue being address, even on Saturday and Sunday. See how long it would be before the democrat fascist thugs in the House were turning on Barry and their pals in the Senate.

There's nothing more pissed off than a democrat fascist who can't indulge in their favorite perversion every weekend. JMHO

Sorry all, but we must fix this debt problem. It's going to hurt. We are all culpable because we are all Americans.

Once the interest payment on the debt exceeds GDP, our goose is cooked. We cannot and must not allow that to happen!

If my math is correct, if the debt were spread equally among all Americans, it would amount to approximately $45k per person. Not all of them collect income, however.

My proposal is extremely painful for the short-term, a massive, ONE-TIME draconian tax, retroactive on unearned income, to be paid once and for the purpose of taking a huge chunk out of the principle to reduce future interest. It also involves cutting ObamaCare. Another source is the collection of unpaid student loans.

We have a moral obligation to pay our debts. Moreover, we have an American duty to pay it because the borrower is slave to the lender, and Americans are not slaves!

We've got to look in the mirror and ask ourselves some pretty penetrating question, folks: Which do we value more, our short-term comfort or our long-term freedom?

Anyone else have ideas? Anyone want to default? Print more money?

I want to hear from a few solid conservative economists on what they think will happen or not happen if the debt ceiling stays where it is.

If the consequences are nil, they had better be right. Any reasonably large monetary issue that could result from a stalemate and add to the deficit will be blamed on the Republicans no matter what.

The MSM will pound the Republicans. Most Indies will be swayed that the dem's were reasonable and it is the Republicans who are the stiff-necked bastards. So much for 2012.

If John Cornyn goes along with the Socialist DemoNazis Party, he is good as gone comes the next election. I would rather vote for a Socialist DemoNazi than have a Republican vote turncoat.

I heard one the other day explain it. Sorry, don’t remember who. It went like this.
We have enough money coming in that we can pay our debt but!!.!.!....essentially the rest of government would have to be cut by about 10%. So they are all having a fit about cutting government by about 10%.

Well, yeah, just wondering if anyone has a doctor office skeleton made especially for beltway politicos? I’m seeing a rubber chicken where the backbone goes, connecting directly to the bleep hole, with a pair of cotton balls or maybe crystal bells hanging where the gonads belong. I have several reference books that deal with old political cartoons but there is nothing in them that equates to our current bunch of nutless wonders! We just need new stuff.

a massive, ONE-TIME draconian tax, retroactive on unearned income...

All well and good, except for the fact that without debt pressure, and without fixing the causes, they will just match you with massive more spending, restoring the debt.

And, this Aug 2 crap is just that - there will ONLY be a default, presuming no ceiling increase, if zer0/Geitner *CHOOSE* to take the incoming revenue stream and NOT apply it to paying US obligations. That will be the case if they continue their massive crazy spending.

The U.S. Treasury Department has projected that on Aug. 2 the U.S. will no longer be able to meet obligations if the legal debt ceiling isn't raised

Does the U.S. Treasury Department decide what "obligations" are?

It is my understanding that the US will have more than enough tax revenue to service the debt. There will be no default. There will be MANDATORY cutting of spending if the conservatives do not cave!

I say shut it down....pundits say our credit standing will tumble...I ask you who is the world going to do biz with that is more creditworthy than a nation who stops the insanity of spending and tries to “right the ship”. As Popeye says: “We cant stands no more”!

I just responded to one of her email with this note:

Michele, re: "Republicans May Take ‘Mini’ Debt-Ceiling Deal," if you go along with this, you're toast. No Conservative will vote for you.
