The New York Slimes today published an editorial witht the premise that Bush hates Perry and vica versa...ok, I don't necessarily care about what the MSM thinks or is agitating to undermine us. But I am intrigued and curious as to the truth of such "rivalry".
What is the real story on this? Bush did spend too much money.
Do Bush and therefore Rove both hate Perry? Is there really a rivalry?
Will Bush endorse Perry with any VP namely (IMHO) Palin? or Bachman?
I believe if Bush doesn't endorse him/them (and I am predicting Perry runs, obviously - and even Palin with one of them as a VP choice) then he'd be viewed as a back stabber/traiter (yep, strong words, but I'm tired of silence and Rove's antics).
I think the NYT is trying to start a fight. They’re either starting one or lying about one when it comes to politics.

Or in another way, Palin preferred Perry over Rove (see the primary election in texas).
Palin is no fan of Roves and vice versa, its telling that she went to the stump for Perry, while Rove tried to unseat him in a primary election (and GHWB endorsed Hutchinson).
The Bush support for Hutchinson was likely a payback to her for gutting the Secure Fence Act. It was a huge political gamble on her part, and smacked of a suitcase-full-of-cash or someone very high up the totem pole calling in a favor. Hutchinson may very well have named the Governor’s seat as her price for doing the deed.
There is no ideological rift between Perry and the Bushes. Governor Perry is very much a Rove/Bush creation. To the extent there is any friction between Perry and the Bushes, it is a turf war for Texas’ influence peddling racket - not a policy disagreement.
Perry is looking very likely to end up as the VP pick on the Romney ticket. Both Bushes will undoubtedly endorse when the time comes.

I thought Rubio had a Natural Born Citizen problem. Parents were not U.S. citizens when he was born. Is this correct?
With the WND/birther crowd maybe, but not with actual standards recognized by the current courts.
Saying that, if Rubio were asked to be the GOP VP running mate, it would be hilarious to watch how quickly the left/Democrats suddenly want a stricter definition of what an NBC is but ONLY where it applies to Rubio's particular situation. The hypocrisy will be astounding.

I don’t know, but anyone who irritates both Bush and Rove might be a keeper. Someone those two would approve of is not.

The dominant hive queens in that nest would not remain quiet, even if the drones were. They could not help themselves.

You state what has always been a nagging worry for me. Others assert the rivalry and breach is real. I do get fake-o-meter readings off of Perry, but it doesn’t go off of the chart like it does with Romney and about half of the announced candidates.
Calling Perry a Rove/Bush creation completely ignores the Bushes efforts to get rid of Perry during the last primaries.
I don’t know how deep it goes, but there has been a public battle between them that has been going on for years.
I don’t know, as I have been outside of the state for so many years. I am uneasy about him, but prefer him to most of the announced candidates.

HIGHTOWER: Rick Perry, back then (currently Texas Governor), was his client, so to speak,
and Perry had been recruited. He was sort of a nothing Texas legislator who had been brought
in — again as an affable fellow without any brain muscle. Perry was essentially sent to
wander around out in West Texas during the campaign so he would be out of the way,
while Rove worked this FBI agent and raised money from the chemical industry

Rove had another ad of me campaigning with Jesse Jackson, who I supported in 1988
in the Presidential campaign. And Rove ran this ad that essentially was a smear
on Jackson and then tying me to him. The ad so angered the Black Caucus in the State Legislature
that they convened their own press conferences in Houston and Dallas to assail it. But again it was too late.
All this was happening in the last three weeks of the election. So, I mean, that s just who the guy is.
Romney isn’t pretending to be tea party.
I think Romney would almost come close to admitting that the words coming out of his mouth don’t really mean much to him, that he wants to be President, and he really just wants to know how big the check needs to be and who to send it to.
Romney’s country club supporters seem to understand this and don’t mind. He doesn’t have those difficult principles that cause conservatives to pursue agendas that don’t have clear support in the polls.
Perry is trying to trick the tea party.
I’m looking for someone who isn’t tied to Rove. Someone who Rove never even met. Not someone who Rove switched to Democrat, but now is fighting with. Oh. Look. Rove and Perry made up. Big surprise.

Quite right. Perry’s not quite as bad as Romney. If he threw his hat in the ring, he’d be roughly the 3rd worst candidate, behind Romney and Huntsman. The “at least he’s better than Mitt” argument is thinking a little too linear though, IMHO. Perry is very likely to end up as Romney’s VP pick after handing him the nomination on a silver platter.
I find the timing of the Perry push a bit suspect. Bachmann had just started pulling ahead of Romney in the polls, and suddenly every DC hack and their media retainers are pushing Perry to run (”for the good of the party” of course).
I believe they’ve done the political calculus, and figured Perry can splinter-off enough support from either Bachmann or Palin in the South to sink their candidacies and put Mitt in the driver’s seat. Sickens me to say it, but Perry in the race pretty much guarantees Romney at the top of the GOP ticket in 2012.
