There are certainly a lot of big quakes these days. I hope the people in these areas are aware of it.

It's 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning in New Zealand now. Did the ministry mean that this would arrive in NZ twenty-four hours from now?

2-3 foot waves - might make for a nice trip on the surf board but nothing else.

Hmmm.... “The first wave may arrive later and may not be the largest. Waves will continue for several hours,” it added.

It called on people to stay off beaches, stay out of the water and not go sightseeing.

Meanwhile, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center canceled a tsunami warning for the Kermadec Islands, Tonga and New Zealand. It said “sea-level readings indicate a tsunami was generated. It may have been destructive along coasts near the earthquake epicenter.”

Well seems canceled...in the latter part of the story.."Meanwhile" [?]..

Would leave one wondering: To go to the beach or not go to the beach...
