Joan Walsh: "A Lot Is Not Known" About Bachmann's Foster Children (video)
RealClearPolitics ^ | July 6, 2011 | RealClearPolitics

Posted on 07/06/2011 4:31:44 PM PDT by i88schwartz

Salon.com editor-at-large Joan Walsh says a lot is just "not known" about GOP presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann. Walsh must not read her own website because a simple search of their archives and a broader search on Google of Salon.com and Bachmann yields a lot of results. A lot.

"She's [Bachmann] trying to make this -- and they're all trying to make this about the economy. So they're thinking that's going to be the club which to batter President Obama [with]," Salon.com editor Joan Walsh said.

"You know, the more people dig into her background, her foster kids, there's just a lot that is not known about her," Walsh continued.

I’m not real concerned about her foster kids, her biological kids, or her husband.

I’m not sure what a Salon.com is, but I doubt I’d want to get a haircut there.

What happened to Hobama’s pronoucement that “the children are off limits?”

Let’s attack Bachmann’s foster kids, there must be something there to make fun of. There must be one of them who went on to prison. There must be at least one of them who robbed a bank or killed a baby bird. One of them surely failed a class in school or stepped on a crack in the sidewalk.

Let’s get ‘em. Who’s with me?

The other day, as a joke, someone said it was only a matter of time before the hatemongers began to "investigate" her foster children. I tell ya.

And a lot less is known about O'Bambi ... his academic records ... his medical records ... his birthplace... anything

But what the heck, he's only the President - why should we obsess about these piddling details.
But 20 year old DUI charges against members of the Palin family, Joe the Plumber's financial records, or detailed history of Bachmann's foster children -- by golly, we better get out the fine-toothed comb...

As if foster children don't have enough to deal with and issues of their own, the left will now try to track them down and get them to say something bad about Bachman. She could be a saint, but if you have 23 foster kids one if them will have an “issue” with her. Just leave these now adult foster kids alone!

A lot isn't known about Obama's earlier life. Will they be investigating him?

Heaven forbid! Trying to win an election on a fake issue like the economy! As opposed to ... to ... Bachmann's foster children ... or whatever the real issues are ...

here must be one of them who went on to prison.

One of our local judges has taken in lots of foster kids and adopted 9 of them over the years. One of them has gone to prison and his enemies act like that's a legitimate weapon to use against him.

Crip, you gotta figure that a lot of those kids are troubled by major issues. In spite of the very best intentions and attempts by a foster parent, some of them will still go bad. What about that guy who hacked Palin’s email account, his real daddy was a Tennessee state Democrat representative. Haven’t heard much about that lately.

Let’s blame the parent (only if they have an “R” next to their name, of course).

"You know, the more people dig into her background, her foster kids, there's just a lot that is not known about her," Walsh continued.

There is nothing known about Obama, even today. You can bet that if any of her foster children are vulnerable to attack in any way the media will savage them brutally.
They are the Obama media.

Just wondering because that is a lot of kids under one roof.

I would challenge anyone with 1/3 the number of kids Bachman has helped raise be vetted like these kids will be and have them come out “clean”, This is just a shot across the bow warning one and all to forget about issues - you’d better get ready to protect your family. This is really a sad commentary on America. It isn’t new to politics, 1 supreme crt justice tried to attack a house member with a cane on the house floor ad inf.. This against children though is dead wrong. There may be no answer except for people voting the bums out, but we wont, to much for Washington to loose. Too bad.

They foster parented for 7.5 years, and were limited to a maximum of three foster children at any given time.

All the kids were teenage girls and none stayed longer than 2 years. Most stayed only a few months and only three at a time. The bachmann home was a licensed treatment facilty, and not simply a foster home, per se. So I don’t know what these media freaks think they are going to find, but this ain’t no way kosher.
It sort of bothers me that she keeps saying she raised them when she didn’t, but that is no excuse for going after the kids, even if they ARE adults now.

You should be concerned about her husband. She's been in business with him, married for 33 years... he said some damaging things in an interview last year that will cause problems in a fall campaign.

CBS has the audio with this article: Michele Bachmann goes quiet on homosexuality

Hey, Joan: I thought “it takes a village” . . . ?

Anyway.

GIVE BACHMANN’S KIDS THE SAME PRIVACY YOU GIVE (and gave, while he was a candidate) THE OBAMA KIDS.

End of discussion.

Yes, this is rich, isn’t it?

The Left can hardly produce documents that Obama is not from Outer Space, yet they are whining that not much is known about Michele Bachmann.

Just read the other day an article where people who went to law school with Bachmann actually remembered her and had an impression of her and her character and intellect.

Oh, the horrors: Bachmann is trying to MAKE THIS ABOUT THE ECONOMY!!

Rotten Republicans, they don’t realize that this is all personal and all about one’s private life (unless you are POTUS have adulterous sex with an intern your daughter’s age in the Oval Office while on the phone with a congressman about the war in Bosnia).

Get a clue, Joan.

Good grief, I’d say if a family had 23 BIO kids, at least some of them would go bad, too!

Of course, with Libs it’s never about the individual’s choices and personal responsibility. It’s always someone else’s fault.

And what in Hell’s Bells do the Bachmann’s children, any of them, have to do with her suitability to be POTUS?

Walsh will claim, oh, Michele made it part of the campaign by bringing up that she had 23 children. Well, what in the world is she supposed to do when asked to give a little something of her bio? Was Chelsea Clinton media fodder because her shark parents trotted her out whenever they were in big doo-doo?

LEAVE THE KIDS ALONE.

We have to start this pushback loud and early. I say don’t argue the merits at all with these creeps. Just say loudly and often “LEAVE THE KIDS ALONE.”

Foster Care: the term used for a system in which a minor who has been made a ward is placed in the private home of a state certified caregiver referred to as a "foster parent".

The state via the family court and child protection agency stand in loco parentis to the minor, making all legal decisions while the foster parent is responsible for the day to day care of said minor. The foster parent is remunerated by the state for their services.

Foster care is intended to be a short term situation until a permanent placement can be made.

I take it you assumed she had all children in her house at the same time?

Three at a time is a lot when you are dealing with kids in these situations. Often sibling groups as well. Teen girls, could be recovering from sexual abuse or pregnant.

This type of “crisis fostering” is often harder, IMO, than a foster-adopt situation.

Regardless, the kids — of ALL the candidates — should be left alone.

My grandparents had “problem” foster teenagers. They even had one stab his twin brother to death at the dinner table.

They sacrificed a lot. You really can’t have a lot of family over when you’re dealing with that kind of thing. As a result, a good many of us grandkids never had a close relationship with them.

As opposed to Obama's classmates at Columbia that can't remember ever seeing the guy in class or even really knowing who he was.

Frankly, I think that statement by Ms. Walsh sounds like a veiled threat.

No good deed (of a republican) goes unpunished.

Remember when Bush nominated Linda Chavez for Secretary of Labor the Democrats put their "Opposition Research Team" on the case a discovered that Chavez had a housekeeper for whom she did not deduct SS payments for. Her sin? She had discovered this homeless Spanish woman and offered to let her live with her family. The woman wanted to pay for her keep by being their housekeeper. They agreed and no money changed hands, yet the Democrats said she should have been paying SS for her. She withdrew her nomination. That is just one difference between conservatives and liberals. This thing with Banchmann is just more of the same. Look at the scrutiny the Palin family gets.
