So, the Tampa office of the ATF is/was also involved in "gunwalking", this time to Honduras. Just how much scandal can the MSM cover up on the back page?

I remember when they were trying to demonize US gun dealers because so many guns sold here were ending up in Mexico...

That was their excuse for wanting to imposing tighter gun control.

I think this thing spun out of control from a “Blame the US” for all the guns to whatever they are claiming now

One of the BATFE officials slipped in his testimony, alluding there may be other programs outside Phoenix.

This now confirms one other.

It would be logical to assume there are Texas programs and possibly New Mexico and California programs as well.

If this program is so large, it will be impossible to contain it as a BATFE program only.

Back-dooring weaponry to south and central America perhaps? Keep them out of our reach until he needs them? Or, is obama trying to raise a standing army to the south to blindside us, with a few central American dictators pitching in their support. Wouldn’t put it past him. Obama has national-socialst-fascist written all over him.

From an earlier thread on Melson's testimony

Another point Melson clarified for investigators was that the ATF group carrying out the mission of Operation Fast and Furious was placed under the direction of the Arizona U.S. Attorney’s office.

I'm thinkin' it's about time to start looking a little more closely at a LOT of different US Attorneys' offices.

I'm gonna have to go with Scot Free. When the lawbreakers are the law enforcers too, not much happens. Sorta like an "internal investigation" by the local PD after shooting an unarmed citizen in a botched drug raid. Stall, stall, stall, until something like the Casey Anthony trial comes along and captures the attention of the masses and viola, problem solved! Bahjehz, We dun need no steenkin bahjehz.

That demonization was a propaganda story that was quickly realized to involve about 7 weapons that the Mexican government had sent to the US for tracing.

The NYT, LAT, WarshPost and other Leftwingtard operations ran the stories under their own or "attributed" bylines.

Those stories are no longer available at the WarshPost public server.

The "gunrunner" program seems to have been designed to fill the gap with real guns!

Ill assume your question isn’t rhetorical. F&F’s primary goal was to manufacture ‘evidence’ that guns from the US were causing significant problems in Mex. and the border. Therefore, it would be incumbent on Congress to draft and pass even more stringent (draconian really) gun control such as a permanent ban on ‘assault weapons’ etc etc. How do we know this was the purpose? First, the ATF had no means of tracking the weapons after they left the country. Once guns were confiscated at crime scenes in Mex there was no way to do a back trace b/c 1) the ATF never told the Mex authorities about their op and 2) the ATF had no substantial presence in Mex with which to do the leg work of sorting thru the weapons and doing the traces. In the last few days there have been news stories saying that guns from F&F have shown up in crimes scenes here. So, our own govt was in the business of abridging our rights...that quite some stmt isn’t it!! At this point the talking TV heads and pols in DC are singing the ATF had the best of intentions song. Soon though its going to become obvious just how wrong they’ve been to cover for the ATF and the Barry Soetoro administration..

Thats only half the story tho. Theres another class of weapons which haven’t been discussed much. Those would be DDs (grenades mostly I think) and select fire weapons. The SF weapons certainly wouldn’t have come from US gun dealers, they’re far too expensive, not so prevalent (most at least) and the time for a sale can be very long (months). As for the grenades found at crime scenes they’ve been proven to be of US origin via military aid. That means Mex or some other South American govt is selling its military aid (or surplus) on the black market or even directly to the drug cartels. Then there are all those weapons which originated in China, Russia etc. Basically, they’re using the drug cartels to wage war against the US and the Mex people. LOL, and the UN huffs and puffs about stopping small arms trafficking. Its their own members who are up to their eyeballs in it. I cant think of any rational reason they’d stop b/c the UN said so.

Right, I don’t think the op had a different goal depending on country, the scenario was the same. They could point at Mex or Honduras or any random country where the ATF op was going on and say ‘See how bad America is. They’re arming criminals to hurt the innocent. We NEED much stricter gun control laws so this doesn’t happen again.’. In fact Im sure this all played neatly into the hands of those pushing the UN small arms trafficking business too.

Dems Call for More Gun Control in Light of Operation Fast and Furious

By Katie Pavlich
6/30/2011

What’s the answer to failed government? More government!

In the June Issue of Townhall Magazine, I wrote Misfire: Obama’s Scandalous Secret Gun Control Agenda, about how Operation Fast and Furious would result in calls for more gun control and I questioned whether officials in the Obama Justice Department purposely allowed thousands of semi-automatic weapons to flow into the hands of dangerous drug cartels in order to meet President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder’s goal of re-instating the ban on assault rifles and other forms of harsh gun control.

During an Oversight Committee hearing on June 15, Democrat Rep. Elijah Cummings stated the following: “No legitimate examination of this issue will be complete without analyzing our nation’s gun laws, which allow tens of thousands of assault weapons to flood into Mexico from the United States every year, including fifty caliber sniper rifles, multiple AK variants and scores of others. When Mexican President Calderon addressed Congress in May, he pleaded for us to stop fueling a full-scale drug war with military-grade assault rifles.”

The problem is, as Mr. Cummings failed to point out, many of these weapons were been provided directly to violent cartel members courtesy of the U.S. government, not because of “lax” gun control laws.

Today, democrats on the House Oversight Committee, led by Rep. Cummings, issued a report calling for more gun control in light of Operation Fast and Furious. Their solution to the Obama Justice Department’s Operation Fast and Furious scandal is to give the same officials who purposely broke U.S. federal law within the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) overseen by the Justice Department, even more power and control over American gun rights, stomping on the Second Amendment to defend government incompetency rather than placing responsibility on Washington bureaucrats.

During the same hearing on June 15 we found out ATF Director Kenneth Melson watched a live video feed from his cushy Washington D.C. office of straw purchasers in Arizona, who he knew were working for Mexican drug cartels, buying mass amounts of weapons, but democrats like Cummings are blaming the Second Amendment for the lethal consequences of the operation....

Same thing I always do. Work tirelessly on our elected officials and spread the word. three years ago, people laughed when I told them we’d get Incorporation for the 2nd. We ARE making progress slowly and the “Fast and Furious” program shows desperation by our Government. We will win... it’s just going to take time but if our Government doesn’t play by the rules, many citizens will feel they have no need to do so either.
