The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday finalized stronger regulations for Wisconsin and 26 other states aimed at curbing air pollution from long-distance sources.
The rules will help those states fight ozone and particle pollution caused by power plants in Illinois, Indiana and other states.
But Wisconsin utilities - whose pollution can contribute to air-quality problems elsewhere - will also need to find ways to reduce their own emissions.
The likely result: Higher electric bills in the coming years.
A group of power companies known as the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity called the action one of the most costly crackdowns on coal ever.
Nationwide, the EPA estimated utilities will spend $1.2 billion next year and $800 million in 2014 to comply with the rule.

I was told by a family member that the EPA is already in coal fired plants issuing fines for anything and everything. Heard one plant got fined 250k for not having permits for work that was done to a boiler in the early 80’s.

20 years ago you got approval from your state for a permit modification and then now, the federal EPA fines you millions of dollars because they say the state should not have given you that approval.

EPA and Enviro Groups decide what will be regulated, how it will be regulated, and at what level, long before the first Notice of Proposed Rulemaking. THEN, and only then, they put together bogus "science" and other data that says that we must regulate at the preordained level or we'll all get cancer in the next 3 years, and "guesstimate" the costs at 1/10 of what they'll actually be.
Hell, half the time these things are all set in stone before they've even gotten their back-pocket Leftist Congressthings to force through enabling legislation.

Both figures are BS. Coal plant scrubbers can cost hundreds of millions each plant. With something like 900 affected plants across the east, no way I believe the price tag is only a couple billion.
As for the hundreds of billions in health benefits, well...this smells like the millions of jobs that have been "saved" under BO's reign of terror: pure fiction.
Wisconsin should ignore the EPA and warn any attempt at force closing their plants will be the end of the EPA in this State. Time to get angry and warn Washington they are done. Why the States continue to put up with this rotten communists Washington group is beyond me.

America’s air quality is fantastic. Industry and automobiles pollute much less than before. Truck put up less particulate. Fire every single commie at EPA. Put them out on the street to look for real work. Bulldoze every last EPA building.
EPA is one of the most anti-American Federal agencies. These eco-saboteurs could care less how many American jobs they destroy and how much they push up electric bills. All they care about are their fat Federale paychecks
