The tipping point was when the population became more urban than rural;urbanites seem to be socialists by inclination.

Rural people place a higher value on independence and hard work.

Look at the American versus French revolutions.Which one resulted in less bloodshed and more freedom?

It’s a chicken and the egg deal. Are socialists more likely to live in a city, or does living in a city make one more likely to be socialist? My guess is that it’s a combination of the two. It took Rudy’s almost fascist approach to turn NYC around.

History happens over the heads of rural people. They rarely do anything but react. Cities are what creates civilizations as the name implies.
