As a son of Georgetown University, I laughed at the pathetic Irish of Notre Dame when they made news for putting on their board Roxanne Martino, who gave a measly $27,000 to EMILY’s List, a group that works to elect pro-abortion politicians. That’s a trifle by Georgetown’s standards.

IIRC Georgetown got a GLBT (?) center after a student there was falsely accused of beating up a gay man.

Activists immediately seized upon the issue. The police,
who didn’t investigate before they made an arrest (they arrested the student in class while he was taking an exam)
were in a pickle when it turned out he was innocent. (I think he even had video tape proving he was elsewhere at the time.)

The police couldn’t release him because that would leave them without a suspect (and the activists were accusing them of being “soft” on anti-gay violence).

So they let the case simmer for 9 months (during which they offered the student every kind of plea deal to just confess).

After nine months in legal limbo, the US attorney for DC finally dropped the charges, admitting that they couldn’t place the accused at the scene.

But in the meantime, the activists had gotten Georgetown, home of the notorious gay-basher, to
adopt a GLBT program.

(what they really needed was a center for students falsely accused of crimes...)
