Religion, Rangel and the Debt Ceiling
by Bree Tracey | July 08, 2011
In what seemed more like a Sunday church service than a Capitol Hill press conference, Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., called out for his fellow lawmakers and all Americans to do "the Lord's work" as a solution to fixing the debt ceiling.
"These are not political questions," Rangel asserted. "These are moral questions."
While lawmakers from both parties are asking what President Obama is going to do about the debt ceiling, Rangel continues to ask, "what would Jesus do?"

Forgive congress for their sins, but still hold them accountable?
Just don’t bring up the “J” name when debating abortion or gay marriage?
HE WOULD HAVE NEVER OBLITERATED THE SOCIAL SECURITY TRUST FUND......... THOU SHALT NOT STEAL!
He would not indulge in or encourage envy, jealousy, covetousness or theft.
Yes, you tax cheating, race baiting Poverty Pimp. Sticking your hand in my pocket is a moral question. What Jesus would do is irrelevant, what the Constitution compels you to do is all you should worry about.
Or bear false witness, or worship any other "god" ("gub'mint" & "money"), or covet thy neighbors' incomes, ...
Don't know for sure, but as a protected Dem, he probably supports abortion.
Whatever Jesus would do, it certainly wouldn't be what Charlie does.
Jesus fed the 5 thousand with 5 loaves and 2 fish. That is exactly what the Democrats think the government should be able to do!
(thou shalt have no Gods before me)
Solly Charlie, but giving “alms” to the poor was to be done voluntarily (2 Corinthians 9:7) and in private (Matt. 6:2) with God alone the judge of the value of the sacrifice.
Taxes in Jesus’s day finded the lavish ;ifestyles of the rulers (like Charlie’s), the Roman army, and infrastructure.
Not one mite of the taxes paid by Jesus went to aid the poor or the sick.
He will be at the front door of Hell bitch slapping through the door pigs like the subject Congresscritter and other abortionist, pervert-pandering, America-hating and God- mocking fools!
Not being judgemental-—I have read his Book!
Not spend recklessly?
Donate to FR?
Cut spending and LOWER the debt ceiling.
Washington is in the clutch of the Devil.
He might just tell Charlie to sell his Cadillac and his diamond rings and give themoney to the poor.
Didn’t he say that the borrower is slave to the lender? Therefore, if Charlie is implying that we should keep borrowing and spending, Charlie must be advocating SLAVERY!
Rangel is certainly a moral authority, isn’t he?
“what would Jesus do?” He’d vote conservative, not socialist.
IF old Charlie had spent his time reading ‘what Jesus said’, he would not now be calling on His name in vain. Religion of ridicule on full display. What he is saying to me is ‘Christians’ turn your other cheek and quite itching about how hard it is to make the bricks.
Someone like Rangel really needs to be careful about invoking Jesus, unless he, himself is repenting and asking for forgiveness.
Exactly my thought when I read the article.
Congress can not perform miracles,
even if they pass a law saying that they can.
“...It was just a year ago that Rangel, the former chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, was censured by his colleagues for various ethical violations...”
IMHO Jesus would exile your cheating ass into the desert............
Funny coming from a God-hating socialist. Jesus would be for "free will", not government confiscation along the lines of "Rob Peter to subsidize Paul and secure his vote."
All I hear from chuck is so much hot air. I hope the old fool does have a "come to Jesus" moment sometime soon, but this sure isn't it.
Would he say “give unto Ceasar what is Ceasar’s and give unto God what is God’s”, which assumes there would still be some let over for God?
