Juba, SOUTH SUDAN — Southern Sudanese and dignitaries from around the world watched the new flag of the Republic of South Sudan be raised for the first time at independence celebrations in the new country’s capital, Juba, on Saturday.

The crowd turned ecstatic as the flag was raised while the old one was lowered.

It's wonderful to see the freedom of the new South Sudanese to worship as they wish.

I hope it lasts.

If you can't appreciate the pure beauty of the violin after hearing this, something's wrong with your ears.

Or you can get raw with these strings. Either way, the violin is sweet yet lethal.

Do it!

The South Sudan president called for the people to fast and pray all day Friday, before the nation actually became a nation at midnight Friday night, and to have all the church bells ring at midnight.

How far we've slipped as a nation, to think that we have the excrement we have for a president.

My parents really supported a Catholic Mission in Juba where the Priests were really harrassed and almost starved by the Muslim leaders. This is really nice that the Christians can worship without the Muzzies killing them.

I wish them well. But can you imagine the scrambling that’s going on at Foggy Bottom now? SOMEONE is going to have to staff the new Embassy there. Man, if you thought Khartoum was a rough posting, wait’ll you get to Juba.

That's exactly what I thought when I read this!

The Word is active in both Asia and Africa, while it is shrinking here and in Europe.

Time of the signs, not the other way around when you think about it.

True enough, and there is oil there. We wonder how long the islamofascists in Khartoum will wait before they find some excuse to invade their oil fields. Still, would you want to go out for a night on the town in Juba? I was once on R&R in Khartoum and that was pretty bad. I can only imagine life in Juba. I wish them well and that their republic survives. Hope God protects his own.
