Not the Amish

Posted on 07/11/2011 11:45:33 AM PDT by MNDude

We've all probably noticed an increase in inner-city violence and flash mobs among certain members of society.

As we know, the media tends to be not be very detailed about these attackers.

If the media were to acknowledge more readily the identity of these thugs, would we be any closer to finding solutions to these attacks?

What would you all propose as the best action that should be taken for inner-cities to turn things around a little?

My solution is long term: end welfare.

I think this thuggery is largely a result of no-dad families. And I think no-dad families are a result of the welfare state.

Short term, strict law enforcement.

CCW and OCW permits widely and quickly available.

I am even OK with a felony background check and a requirement on an NRA-approved firearms handling course.

Heinlein was right: an armed society is a polite society. If violent flashmob members thought they would pay for their anarchy with their lives, they might think twice.

The gun holders OTOH would have to keep them holstered during DANCE flashmobs. Which will be a true test of discipline.

I can't wait to hear all the screaming and hollering from certain members of the community the first time one of these flash mobs mess with the wrong person and get the “Bernard Getz” treatment.

Homeschoolers sure are smart. :)

That’s exactly the right answer.

in 2008, was one of the huge increases to minimum wage.
it certainly helped cause the recession, and make it worse.
...yet liberals, still think it is a good thing.

to solve a problem, the FIRST thing is to identify the CAUSE.
Liberals refuse to admit the cause, and actively hide it.

California has a budget deficit of about 25 billion a year.
and benefits to illegals, cost California about 25 billion a year...
Liberals refuse to admit the cause, and actively hide it.

Certainly there are some racist whites.
(although i have not met any in years...)
FBI statistics show, that black on white crime, is hundreds of percent higher than the reverse.
Liberals refuse to admit the cause, and actively hide it.

...and communists income redistribution makes it worse:

Problems with The Amish and Not the Amish both involve the authorities allowing lawlessness and crime against others to go unpunished. For The Amish, it’s the secular authorities allowing the religious community to handle crimes (which are then largely ignored), and with Not the Amish, the secular authorities allow the community to ignore the crimes.

The AA-12 Combat Shotgun

Fully automatic and drum-fed, the AA-12 fires five 12-gauge shotgun shells per second, with extreme reliability and so little recoil that strong men can shoot it Arnie-style with one hand. And if that hail of hot buckshot isn't enough to make both shooter and target need a change of underpants, consider this: it has been developed in conjunction with the FRAG-12 - a new type of shotgun cartridge in which each round is a small, flighted high explosive or fragmentation grenade accurate up to 175 metres.

Oh, we've always had that, it's called the 2nd Amendment.

Enforce “hate crimes” legislation that is already on the books. OOpps, forgot, hate crimes DO NOT APPLY, when the perps are minorities and the victims are white. Soooooooooo sorry for that mistake.

I know it doesn’t sound far, but, the kids are caught, punish the parents. Maybe cut off welfare until all money’s are paid back. Make the kids work for free, at whatever job, doesn’t matter, until they pay back 3x’s what they stole and the cost of court ect. Send the kids to some kind of boot camp. Cut off all welfare that the kid would have gotten once they are off mom’s/grandma’s welfare. We all know most of these kids will go on to have kids, and never get off welfare. And their kids will even be worse then these kids are. These kids have been raised with absolutely no discipline of any kind. Their parents have failed them, government has failed them by throwing money at a problem with absolutely no strings attached, the government run school system has failed them.

I’m sure we will hear something along the lines of, if only we had more tax dollars we could fix this problem. Oh, and a bunch of white guilt rhetoric.

End welfare as we know it. Turn it back over to cities and community charities. Years ago when that’s all there was, people felt responsible to work to make their lives better so they could stop counting on the help of their neighbors. Now these people don’t even know where the money comes from and apparently don’t care as long as they get theirs for free.

It’s hard for younger people to believe, but, there was a time in this country when a girl who got pregnant without a husband couldn’t just go on public assistance.

But, such restrictions were dropped as part of the major AFDC expansion under LBJ.

So, our official governmental policy was to be non-judgemental about how they became pregnant without a husband. The goal was to give them assistance without regard to their circumstances.

And eventually we ended up with a “baby mama” culture, in which we have normalized out of wedlock parenting.

And we normalized an expectation among certain people that there is a government program for every conceivable social problem. The expectation developed that people don’t need to do anything for themselves, but rather, that government programs would take care of their problems.
