LAKE JACKSON — After serving almost 24 years in the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman Ron Paul told The Facts this morning he will not be seeking another term for the District 14 seat.
Paul, 75, will instead focus on his quest for the presidency in 2012.
“I felt it was better that I concentrate on one election,” Paul said. “It’s about that time when I should change tactics.”
His announcement will give enough time for anyone with aspirations for his seat to think about running, he said. Paul didn’t want to wait for filing in the 2012 primary to let people know he wasn’t seeking reelection.
“I didn’t want to hold off until in December,” he said. “I thought it shouldn’t be any later than now.”
Paul has served 12 terms in Congress. District 14 encompasses a 10-county area along the Gulf Coast.

I agree. It would have been good to have his voice in Congress when the new Republican President begins his term in 2013.
The statist-GOP wing of FR doesn't care about all that. They'd rather focus on taking Dr. Paul's foreign policy statements out of context instead of focusing on the greater good he has done for the re-emergence of the conservative-libertarian movement.
That would be the best day of my life if they all decided to leave.
But onto this topic I bet you that loony tune Paul actually believes he'll win the Presidency.

I don't even consider them libertarians. These are drug addicts who go to CPAC, vote in the straw poll to try and legitimize the position of legalization.
And for so called libertarians on Free Republic. Every person who smoked pot in High School that I was friends with back then turned to other drugs.
Pot leads to coke, heroin, meth, ect... Legalization would equal the death of America.

Dr. Paul is best if we get a true conservative in the White House and he is made temporary “czar of shutting down superfluous government agencies” and “Ft. Knox / Federal Reserve inspector”.
Drugs destroy families and lives. I have zero respect for anyone pro-legalization. It decimated my friendships because all my "friends" cared about was getting high.
Yeah, the issue is personal since my ex friends drug use affected me as all of our friendships were destroyed because all they cared about was getting high.
I don't know about your view that he started the tea party movement, but like I said my issue is his constant ranting about legalization.
