Bachmann goes into overdrive
The Washington Post ^ | 07/12/2011 | Jennifer Rubin

...

How is she doing it? For starters, she is showing some muscle on foreign policy. Among the GOP presidential contenders only she commented yesterday on the attack on the U.S. embassy in Syria. Her statement suggests she’s not about to shed the party’s Reagan-esque stance on national security: “The US Embassy, in the middle of the capital of Syria, has been under intermittent violent attack for days, permitted by the Syrian regime — and the Obama administration can only manage a peep of protest? At best this is another instance of ‘leading from behind,’ and at worst it is careless endangerment of American lives and property. It is time for the Obama administration to stand up for freedom — and stand up to our adversary regimes, both in Damascus and in Iran.”

...

But the rest of the interview was perhaps more telling as she explained her position on the debt ceiling (no hike in the debt ceiling until we have “dramatic cuts” including repeal or defunding of ObamaCare) and rose to the defense of small business (appropriate, given her location at an Iowa company). She zinged Obama for telling “small businesses to eat their peas.” She made the point (missed or evaded by several lawmakers’ whose interviews preceded hers) that Obama’s proposed “cuts” were in the out years (meaningless, in other words). And she came out four-square in favor of a pro-growth agenda (take the corporate tax down to 9 percent, cut government, reduce regulation). In talking about the need to weed out excessive regulation she argued that the biggest example of overregulation is ObamaCare. All in all, a first-rate performance.

The overdrive reference is starting to wear thin, but overall a pretty good analysis.

Ah yes, the obligatory liberal media praise begins, and then when Bachmann overcomes Powerball-lottery odds to win the nomination the firing squad will commence.

Bachmann is simply a tool of the establishment.

The more I see and hear of Mrs. Bachmann, the more convinced she is serving in exactly the spot that God has called her to. She should stay right where she is at.

I do know she has Woopi Goldberg’s head spinning 360 degrees which does my heart good - as would seeing the same from the rest of the cauldron.

All she needs now is a running mate with the last name Turner.

Her husband is going to be an issue for her. Especially with their pray away the gay therapy offices. And that her husband isn’t really a licensed clinical psychologist. I am a big supporter of Michele, but this might sting.

How is she doing it? For starters, she is showing some muscle on foreign policy.

The problem is that Bachmann has never shown "muscle" anywhere.

Bachmann has a blank slate to show for her long career in politics, the men chewed her alive, and always overwhelmed her, there is nothing there but an empty suit.

Having a point of view that I share is nice, but the inability to lead and create change can be OK as long as you vote well as one of the 435 congressmen, but Presidential leadership? Party leadership? she isn't that person.

Presidential leadership, party leadership, so. You want someone with less experience than Obummer. Because thebrepublican party has no one with presidential leadership, except Willard, he was a. CEO. Guess that is who has the party and presidential leadership and you are endorsing.

That comment is brain dead.

How is she serving by signing conservative pledges that drives the Republican establishment crazy?

These sort of comments are petty and sheer lunacy.

. Especially with their pray away the gay therapy offices.

Only for idiots that buy the lie homosexuality is genetic, which is as much junk science as all the global warming nonsense.

Thank God for the work of her husband.

Really? What proof is there of that?

You're just babbling on with any unfounded charge that you can think of because she is gaining traction in Iowa and you consider her a threat to your candidate.

The proof is that she has zero accomplishments to show for her 11 years in legislatures, the men have always just shoved her aside, just as Cantor did after 2010.

That comment is brain dead.

Then ask yourself why a three-term Congresswoman who proclaims herself as "the leader" of the Tea Party (Tea Party has no leaders) suddenly decides to run for President, when she has zero legislative accomplishments and zero executive experience to run on otherwise.

Bachmann is in to blunt a Palin run. It is a well-known fact that the GOP establishment do not want Palin to run and will do all it can to stop her momentum. Look, she hired the excrement Ed Rollins who immediately attacked Palin even though Palin is not a declared candidate. Why didn't he attack Romney or the other "front-runners?"

Big donors won’t like the Bachmann kook factor and her small donors won’t get her very far. She will have to drop out before Iowa if she has any hope for retaining a seat in Congress.

I want someone that is a leader, a natural executive, Bachmann has proven that in the trenches, she has no leadership, no effect, no ability to take on her peers and lead them.

Look, now's not the time to fart around this election. If Bachmann really cares about the country, she needs to focus on working to improve Congress. What will a presidential run get her, asides from animosity from conservatives who feel betrayed and the eventual loss of her Congressional seat?

Bush needed an experienced running mate too. Maybe she should ask Cheney to pick up. Well as we know, Cheney picked himself, larded the executive branch with war supporters, and invaded mushroom clouds. Been there, down that.

As I predicted, the LSM continues to oh-so-subtly prop up MB as the GOP “front-runner.”

When these Obama sycophants start opining about any conservative as being “the front-runner”, my BS meter starts going off-the-chart.
