ORLANDO, Fla. -- Authorities were looking into allegations of witness tampering during Casey Anthony's murder trial, a Florida sheriff said Tuesday during a wide-ranging news conference with his top investigators in what he said was an effort to bring closure to a case that polarized the country.

Hey Sheriff, how can there be closure until OJ finds the “real killer”??

Oh wait, I guess the girl beat herself, chloroformed herself, tied herself up and tied herself in a trash bag and dumped her own body in the swamp??

Should have been so obvious it was a suicide!!

“The sheriff held the news conference to defend his investigation and because his office had been besieged with interview requests since the verdict.”

Could he be trying for a retrial, goaded by public response to this very public trial?

“She stunned prosecutors during the trial when she testified that she had done searches for chloroform on the family’s computer. Prosecutors believed, along with sheriff’s investigators, that Anthony had performed the search.”

Wow, if what I search for is admissible evidence, I’m doomed. Imagine if you were accused of planning a WMD attack, and they found all the stuff you looked at to learn of the Amerithrax case, and whether or not Ivins was guilty? Or all the firearms related searches, or “birther” searches?

Yup. It is indeed admissible evidence. Always has been, as I understand it. Just like what magazines you have around, or what books you check out at the library.

Given the wild variety of stuff I search for, I could probably be charged with an amazing variety of crimes.

Where did she get chloroform? Where did this info come from? There are many chemicals that are very difficult to get.

Was there evidence of purchases of chloroform? Did they find chloroform in the house? At autopsy?

I am wondering because I can’t buy chloroform here. I can buy ammonium nitrate, nitric acid, dichloromethane, but not chloroform, even by check with a signature.

Well, since you weren't there, didn't hear the testimony in person, spent no time in the actual jury room, don't know what grades the judge got on his law school exams, have no idea what color the car of the prosecuter's mother-in-law is, and certainly never did forensic neurophysiological analysis on the body language of the third court reporter... you can't have an opinion on the verdict.

These freaking retard on that jury are the only one’s to blame. They were morons who didn’t even ask to review any evidence despite the fact that the mother was the last person to see her and didn’t report her “missing” for 31 days.

Her alibis were all proven to be lies...that jury will have to live with their lazy ineptness for the rest of their lives.

Everyone familiar with the case knows the mother perjured herself in an effort to save her daughter - that is no doubt why thet decided not to prosecute.

The sheriffs’ office should be looking into jury tampering instead of wittness tampering. They jury didn’t spend enough time in deliberations to do a serious job.

And too many jurors changed their votes from guilty of manslaughter to not guilty in a very short period of time.

Now those speaking out are saying they have remorse over their votes.

What went on in the jury room?
Who was twisting arms and why?

Here is how you make chloroform. I now may be accused of murder, since I searched for the information. You all now have seen the synthesis and have traces of it on your hard drive. Do you think the prosecution needs to find evidence that you purchased or obtained Chlorox and nail polish remover, or is this data alone enough? If so, you are all candidates. Do you think Anthony could have done this, leaving no evidence?
........................

With Calcium Hypochlorite and Acetone

When chlorine is passed into boiling alcohol, both chlorination of the methyl group and oxidation of the primary alcohol group to an aldehyde occur, giving trichloro-acetaldehyde or chloral: When chloral is treated with caustic alkali, fission of the C-C linkage occurs, giving chloroform and a formate. Acetaldehyde and also many ketones, such as acetone, containing the CH3CO- group behave similarly when treated with calcium or sodium hypochlorite, chlorination of the CH3CO- group being immediately followed by fission of the molecule by the alkali present in the hypochlorite solution. The acetone method clearly gives a much cheaper product than the alcohol method.

Required: Calcium Hypochlorite 100g (bleaching powder), acetone 44ml

Place 100g of calcium hypochlorite in a mortar and add 250 ml of water in small quantities at a time: between each addition grind the mixture of bleaching powder and water well together and decant the cream-like suspension through a funnel into a 1-litre flat-bottomed flask. Finally, when all the water has thus been used, only a gritty residue remains in the mortar. Fit the flask with an efficient reflux water-condenser, pour 44ml (35g) of acetone in small quantities, at a time, down the condenser and mix by thorough shaking after each addition. The reaction usually starts spontaneously after a few minutes, and a bath of cold water should be available into which the flask may be dipped if necessary to moderate the reaction. Should the reaction show no signs of starting within 5 minutes of the addition of the acetone, warm the flask cautiously on a boiling water-bath until the reaction starts, and then remove it immediately. When the vigorous boiling has subsided, heat the flask on a boiling water-bath for a further 5-10 minutes (not more) to complete the reaction. Cool the flask in cold water (to prevent loss of chloroform vapour whilst the apparatus is being rearranged) and then fit the flask with a fairly wide delivery-tube and reverse the water-condenser for distillation. Heat the flask on a water-bath until distillation of the chloroform is complete.

The chloroform thus obtained is usually acidic. Therefore shake it thoroughly with dilute sodium hydroxide solution in a separating-funnel. (If the chloroform tends to float on the alkaline solution, it still contains appreciable quantities of acetone: in this case the soda should be run out of the funnel and the chloroform shaken with water to extract the acetone. The extraction with the soda can then be performed after the water has been removed.) Carefully run off the heavy lower layer of chloroform into a small conical flask, dry it over calcium chloride for 15-20 minutes, and then filter it directly into a 75 ml. distilling-flask fitted with a clean dry water-condenser. Distill the chloroform, collecting the fraction of bp. 60-63øC. Yield, 30g. (20ml).

Chloroform is a colourless liquid, of bp 61ø and d 1.50. It has a characteristic sweetish smell, and is frequently used as a solvent in organic chemistry.

If one of the jurors would have voted guilty and they were the only one, what would the be getting for an interview? My guess about 5 million!!! They would be on easy street the rest of there lives instead of hiding.

My computer is likely full of suspicious searches about nearly anything you can think of and some you can't. I have been stunned by the spotlight on the searches...really. I could be made to look very guilty...of almost anything if my searches were looked through.

Those who felt that the prosecution did not prove Casey guilty were attacked ad nauseum by many.

They found traces of chloroform and evidence of a dead body in Casey’s trunk.

During the initial investigation they found the search queries on the computer dealing with chloroform and Cindy Anthony said nothing about running the searches herself. I’m assuming they had good evidence she lied about this to protect Casey, hence the interest in prosecuting her for it.

Wasn’t a car from a junk yard also tested and showed traces of chloroform? Wasn’t it revealed that things like clothes washing detergents would also prove positive for chloroform?
Is it any wonder that the jury discounted that fantasy forensic junk presented by the Prosecution?

Did you watch her idiot attorney Cheney Mason on Greta yesterday? He said that he could see her restarting a “relationship” with her brother Lee.

The same Lee the defense insinuated at trial could have been the father of Caylee and that the defense said molested her like her father did.

So is he know admitting they lied, because who would want any type of relationship with a brother that raped you? And why would your attorney be saying it was probable?!

PR35... You are one sick puppy if you don’t understand that the Prosecutor did not provide a single bit of evidence that linked Casey to the death or disposal of her daughter.

That doesn’t mean that Casey is completely innocent, and the jurors who have spoken to the press have indicated they thought she had a role in Caylee’s death but the Prosecutor’s attys. never provided any hard evidence to prove she was in any way.
