With restrooms closed by shutdown, problems pile up at Minnesota state parks

While such parks normally are bustling with people - and have facilities to serve them - the relative seclusion appears to have emboldened some to do their business along trails and other areas where no Minnesotan would normally dare to squat.

"People are taking it upon themselves to go out in the woods and relieve themselves, and without the presence of employees and others, they're not picking up after themselves," Konrad said. "People are also having a tendency not to pick up after their pets."

Because they are stinking slobs who cannot take care of what they have on their own without government. How sick and sad that they trash their own property, the parks. I also was taught at a young age how do deal with mother nature properly and safely when in the wilderness. Ignorance is no excuse for this poor behavior and I wouldn’t want to visit a state with people like this living there..

If Obama gets a 2nd term, we’ll all be living in parks.

Minnesota is absolutely idiotic to not find a solution to keep their parks open and rest areas clean. Tourism in Minnesota is big big bucks. This just makes their state look sad.

Also, how bout 2 red cobs and one white cob. The white cob is quality control on the two red cobs.

It sometimes amazes me how well Freeper’s posts match their user names.

And while they also serve who sit and brainstorm, I’m the sort who likes to get her hands dirty :) Tea parties should be drawing up lists of warm bodies available to do different jobs should the need arise. If there are folks willing and able to do the scut work, then ploys like locking up restroom facilities will backfire big time.

Its such a great idea and maybe one that can be spread across America by the tea party express.

It would be a great thing to have people see the American tea partiers are doing the job the unions refuse to do. The unions will fight it but only their reputations will suffer. Maybe a small sign can be erected that says something about “These facilities, cleaned and maintained by your local Tea Party Americans”.

What's the big deal? Poop and pee are biodegradable and thereby “natural”. [Note to Enviros: animals routinely use the woods as a bathroom. What's the problem?]

Tea partiers are too busy working 2-3 jobs to pay for dumb crap The State does that the private sector could be doing if they didn’t have to compete on every level with The State.

The government has nothing to do with how I move my bowels in the woods. If you cannot take a second to bury your crap, you are simply an animal. There are few exceptions to this rule. Not burying your excrement has been the cause of armies losing wars.
