...But there was never anything silly, nor light-hearted, nor casual, about Barack Obama's efforts to keep the public's eyes from the basic facts of his life, from birth to his candidacy for president. On the contrary, this opacity is a deliberate policy. Why? The presumptive answer, absent testimony from those involved, is to ensure that real facts interfere as little as possible with the image and narrative that he and his associates have carefully crafted for him. Distinguishing between reality and that narrative would require above all a skeptical attitude, sure to be characterized by Democrats and the media in the most derogatory terms.
According to hagiography, Barack Obama was born to a hippy girl from an insignificant family and raised in poor circumstances, out of which he rose through brilliance. Yet his haughty demeanor, his stilted language when off the teleprompter, his cultural likes and dislikes, bespeak an upbringing in an environment at once so upscale and so leftist that it makes him almost a foreigner to ordinary Americans....
Consistent with the Barack Obama we know, however, are his real family, his real upbringing, and his real choices of profession and associates. His mother's parents, who raised him, seem to have been cogs in the U.S. government's well-heeled, well-connected machine for influencing the world, whether openly ("gray influence") or covertly ("black operations"). His mother spent her life and marriages, and birthed her children, working in that machine. For paradigms of young Barack's demeanor, proclivities, opinions, language, and attitudes one need look no further than the persons who ran the institutions that his mother and grandparents served—e.g., the Ford Foundation, the United States Information Agency, and the Central Intelligence Agency—....It is here, with these people and institutions, that one should begin to unravel the unknowns surrounding him.

We are ‘folks who fit into little boxes’ - in his world, we are not individuals but samples, specimens, categorized by income, race and usefulness.

Add to that the fact that Obama is a classic, text book example of a malignant narcissist. He is a man with no real self-assurance hence always afraid of criticism, a pathological liar with no conscience, and possessing absolutely no empathy for anyone. He is a hollow, pliable imitation of a man who is without courage and unable to function without applause and adoration. This makes him susceptible to and easily manipulated by those who use him for their own goals while pretending to adore him...as long as they keep pretending.

THIS is what I never understood. IF in fact “O” has such a ‘salt of the earth’ background… it is a very potent political advantage and nearly insurmountable challenge to opponents. Nothing on earth could or should interfere with his popularizing and capitalizing on this kind of ‘pedigree’ as much and as often as possible. What better way to embarrass the ‘Conservative’ boogey men that Liberals so love to demonize?
In fact… “O” CANNOT exploit this kind of VERY wholesome and very American ‘rags to riches’ yarn ... not with nostalgia (real or trumped up), not with school photos, not with family photos, not with testimonials of friends and colleagues, not with school records, etc.... these things DO NOT EXIST. This has all been scrubbed from the record of his ‘journey’ to the WH. “O” has a personal backgrould which is hermetically sealed and sanitized. The only peak we got into the sewer from which he launched himself was the video of his ‘Rev.’ Wright: Mr. ‘Goddam America!’

I’ve only read a portion of it, but the article seems to argue that Obama has a CIA connection. We know that Bush-42 had a CIA connection and therefore Bush-44 had one. It has been speculated that Clinton had a CIA connection.
I am getting tired of the CIA selecting our presidents. Is Hillary next in line?
Like everything I’va read by Proffesor Codevilla, this is concise, magisterial, and also full of felicitous, almost off-handedly brilliant phraseology.
I happened to pick up The American Spectator one day about 6 months ago at B&N, and started reading his great 18-page essay, which has since been published as a small paperback,
with additions of key Founding Father documents in the appendix. I was so thrilled by that essay, I told everyone I knew to read it. THen I found it reprinted in its entirety (I hope it’s till there)
on the TAS website. I will post a link later in this thread if I can find it.
A few days after I read it I turned on Rush’s program on the radio, and he was reading large chunks of it aloud to his listeners.
I must say, Codevilla is my new intellectual hero: he seems to have a relentlessly objective, eagle-eye view of our current crisis
better than anyone’s and delivers it with absolute authority.

It is worth reading. Long, detailed, convoluted .. but what ISN’T about these secretive, scheming cretins and their radical paths and affiliations? I just finished reading it. Some of it is convoluted for sure but Kurtz’s book sounds like a must read. Not sure what to make of the CIA stuff, but part of the CIA IS a festering fountain of leftwing ideology. I never thought that I would ever live in an America that thought communism was a viable alternative to freedom! Yes....damn them all!

I do believe that .. I think the CIA has been operating for decades at cross purposes, for whatever reason the brainiacs thought they could manipulate. They can be very, very dangerous, and the oldtime civil servants seem to be able to just be arbitrary and clandestine in their manipulations.
I pray Petraeus is for US all the way, and can work some small wedge into that bureaucracy and to unveil and end the skullduggery that hurts us so insidiously.
God knows, he’s aware of their despicable leaks of military intel and operations and the harm they’ve done. Pray for our troops.

Yup. But FReepers have been talking the CIA angle for awhile. We knew. I know you've seen that research too.
The weapons available to Obama, The Justice Department, CIA, government run media, must be diminishing as his tenure fades and America's international stature weakens. No one should forget what a criminal justice department was permitted, even by the president for whom it worked, to do to Scooter Libby, prosecuting him with the full public assistance of a compliant press, after a confession had been proffered by Dick Armitage working for Colin Powell.
Almost all current and former intelligence agents know about these connections. Codevilla didn't mention John Brennan, Deputy CIA Director, who has been at Obama’s elbow for five or more years, or old Communist sympathizer Leon Panetta, first at CIA and now Sec Def. Codevilla he has compiled a rationale for Obama’s motivations about a class of society with which Codevilla was connected, but with few of us have any direct experience.
I had not thought about Cord Meyer for several decades, and would never have made the connection. He retired from the CIA in 1977, but Codevilla's mention caused bells to ring. I hope Codevilla expands his analysis into a book, or collection of articles, because it will connect many others, not necessarily attempting to foment revolution, but whose behavior has been certainly constrained by what and who they know, and what roles they have performed in the past.
What seems to be taking shape is that Obama’s is a presidency shaped by a powerful faction with strong connections, if not its origin, in our CIA.
FReepers have been investigating, as much as they can, the CIA angle for a long time.
