Wow, some kid with a Red Ryder bb gun could really do some expensive damage!

Looks more like a hype-ad for a video game.

I'd heard some things about mini-UAV surveillance vehicles, but as far as this goes -- I'd be more receptive if it wasn't all animated.

Next, the USAF design folks will show video of their 'light saber' experiments.

And just think of the fun (implications) when they are ‘tested’ in your/our neighborhood as part of the new ‘public safety anti-terror’ program.

Naw....never happen....

Take a gander at this. We've been aware of these things being R&D'd for years now.

I think that people who can devise detectors and/or countermeasures to these robot insects will be very popular. And very rich.

Anybody can make an animated video that shows anything.

Doesn't mean it actually exists.

I saw E.D. Hill on CNN last night. She didn’t look at all like she did when she was on Fox. The one on CNN just might be one of these contraptions, only ground-dwelling and blonde.

I’m selling Urban Off! - 100% DEET.

Won’t stop the mechanical bugs, but it will thin out liberal population centers.

I’m also selling RAID PULSE. The mini directional EMP MechBug defense system. This one actually works, but only in the mock up videos where these bugs live.

Actually, I wish they’d just invent the MechBug version of a dragonfly. So when we finally drag our asses out of the middle east countries, we can put all those joystick bureaucrats to work hunting down and killing mosquitoes.

The video advert did not say if they worked at night. I’m guessing maybe they do but you mostly get video of the inside of a bat.

“Interfering with Law Enforcement Devices” will be a class-one felony.

They will even send out easy to find and kill UAVs just to entrap folks in stings, with the “real” UAVs higher up filming it all for the prosecution’s case.

Gents, if you think this is a hoax, good luck to you.

Yes, this is mostly "far out" thinking right now, but enormous strides in the control and materials technologies required for such devices have been made over the last decade, and it is only a matter of time.

Look at it from the perspective of those large and in-charge: These are simply too good not to build. And build them they will. With our tax dollars.

Today = fantasy. Tomorrow = reality. Five years -- ten years tops.

Heh. "Know thy enemy", eh, Matt?

Sounds like an excellent concept for inclusion in your next novel. $;-)

The responses to stories like this shouldn’t suprise me but they always do. Doctors have video cameras you swallow. NASA rovers can anylize soil samples on Mars and send back the results. My cell phone can tell me where I am, recommend the best Chinese restaurant in the area and show me directions and the phone was under $100.

Nothing in that animated video will require new technology to create, and I have no doubt the will to use it is out there as well.

No doubt. If there is time for another book before we’re reduced to barter.
