If Congress is unable to come to a deal to increase America's debt ceiling, more Americans will blame Republicans than will blame President Obama, says a new poll by Quinnipiac University.
According to the survey, released on Thursday, 48 percent of Americans say they will blame Republicans, not President Obama, if the country's $14.3 debt limit is not raised. Thirty-four percent said they would blame Mr. Obama rather than the GOP.
The poll comes on the heels of a tense round of negotiations over a deal to raise the U.S. debt ceiling, varying accounts of which describe everything from an abrupt walk-out by Mr. Obama, to "childish" behavior by leading Republican Eric Cantor.
The survey indicates, however, that as much as Americans disapprove of Mr. Obama's economic leadership, they trust him more than they trust Republicans on the issue: 56 percent of respondents said they disapproved of how the president is dealing with the economy, but 45 percent said they trusted him more than they trusted Republicans to deal with it.

Lies.

The question was probably asked, “Which party opposes debt limit being raised”, and the government media spun it to which party Americans “blame” for debt limit not being raised! LOL, they are getting stupidly pathetic.
I want to see a poll about raising the debt ceiling from those people who would crawl over razor wire to vote in the 2012 elections.
Any other poll doesn’t matter.
San Fran Libco.
I stopped taking anything for granted from the Quinnipiac University a long, long time ago. =.=
True, but this isn’t about the budget. Congress has already submitted a budget for 2011. The senate hasn’t submitted budget in 2 years.
If anything, republicans should demand that until the senate puts through it’s budget, the debt ceiling is off the table. Let the president cut out programs.
What BS! If there’s one industry in this country that richly deserves massive layoffs, it’s the pollsters.
Speaking of which, here at Free Republic, we can help with the cost of what we benefit from; which is another answer to the question:
BS a convenient poll at best. PLEASE and so obvious
Raising the debt limit is a stupid idea that supports continued irresponsible spending. Blaming Republicans for not being stupid does not make sense. But, then again, most voters put Obama into office. Oh, well.
I’d blame them too and then send them a donation.
This poll was taken last week, before the shenanigans of this week.

Gee, what a surprise, a CBS poll finds for the dimwits. I wonder why that always happens with their polls?
don’t polls show most people don’t want the debt limit increased?
Therefore, wouldn’t the republicans get the “credit”?
Also, isn’t it obvious republicans will be responsible because they are insisting on budget cuts whereas Obama would just raise the debt limit if he could?
And finally, how on Earth could more people trust Barack Obama to handle the economy?
Oh, in that case I guess we should abandon saving the economy. After all we wouldn’t want anyone sore at us.

Oh those leftists. Always looking out for our best interests.
I heard an NPR puke today say that a majority of Americans want increased tax revenue.
Hint to stupid NPR leftists: Maybe that “majority” means they want an increase in the number of TAXPAYERS!
