WATCH: Woman in Kentucky attacks judge after being sentenced to 10 days in prison

A Kentucky woman accused of domestic violence had serious objections with a judge's sentence early this week, attacking the jurist after getting jail time.
Wayne County Family Court video shows Melissa Harvick arguing with Judge Jennifer Upchurch Edwards before being sentenced to 10 days in prison for contempt of court.
As soon as Edwards said, "You go now," Harvick lost it.
She leaps over the bench and tries to choke Edwards, who remains, surprisingly, stonefaced through the whole dramatic hearing.
It took two court officers to subdue the irate woman, WKYT.com reported.
"I put her on the floor, restrained her, using my knee and any other body part I could to hold her on the floor while I handcuffed her," Court Officer Adam Dodson told WKYT.
Harvick is in jail, and her contempt of court sentence is expected to be lengthened, according to the report.

Oopser - nothing like validating the judge's opinion and ruling of GUILTY. What an idiot - and a whack job.
Hate to say it but, Hell-hath-no-fury type of stuff here - I have a bad feeling that that whacko is going to stew in the can and when she gets out - well, let's just say, that judge BETTER be packin' something that can put down a wildcat. That's one dangerous broad.

WOW! How many suffered at her violence before it was brought to court. She’s got some jump going on there! I guess the judges has no doubts about her domestic violence charge.
To: Libloather
Just a pet peeve but I hate the misuse of the word “prison” in this context.
You go to jail for ten days. You go to prison for ten years.

Idiot. What I found hilarious was the reaction of the court officers...their body language and demeanor suggests: “Ugh. We got another jumper here...well, git er’ down...bring the cuffs over.”
Hehe, just another day.

Yep, but in this state every day in jail awaiting trial counts as two days served on any resulting prison sentence because the county jail is considered a far worse place to be than any prison in the state.

The judge was a woman, not a man. She appears to have trouble with men and authority figures.

Yeah, because this law-abiding angel was just minding her own business when that mean old judgmental judge insulted her with that dismissive wave after sentencing her to several days in jail for attacking her husband and disrespecting the court. There's no reason at all that she should consider the consequences of committing violence when someone upsets her. Completely proportional response, if you ask me.

Looks like there is all sorts of excitement going on here in Kentucky.
One of my delivery drivers was just shot at by a drunk. The guy was trying to get into the back of Carl's truck, and pulled a gun when Carl tried to stop him. Initially he said that he was going to shoot out the truck's tires, but he then turned his gun at Carl and ripped off a couple of shots.
Fortunately the guy was a lousy shot. The KSP now has him in custody. Carl was understandably extremely shaken up by this, so one of my co-managers went out, picked him up, and drove him home.

the county jail is considered a far worse place to be than any prison in the state. The two I've been in (county jails) were absolute s### holes, that was in my drinking days, more than 30 years ago. I know they aren't supposed to be country clubs but they surely constituted cruel and unusual.
One was in the middle of January, temps outside were below zero and something was amiss with their heating system, not too cold mind you but it got up to 115 F. in there. Most of us stripped bare a$$ naked but that's not a lot of relief when it's that hot, I spent a miserable 36 hours there.
The other one was actually a town jail, not county. The jailer accidentally left the cell unlocked, there were only 2 of us in the cell. The other guy simply walked out, he tried to convince me to go with him but drunk as I was, I knew better. I knew that I'd bail out in the morning but adding escape to my relatively minor charges would have been compound stupid.

Well, assaulting the judge was pretty contemptible. LOL, I guess it was. I went searching and found out the original 10 day contempt of court sentence was changed to 120 days. And she now faces counts of "terroristic threatening and intimidation.". Sounds like they have labeled her a terrorist.

Thank you so much for the update. I was wondering when her sentence would be increased, but I think maybe a hospital for the criminally insane would be more appropriate. Who attacks a judge in her own court with burly bailiffs, cameras, and witnesses all over the place? Only an bat-spit nut bucket.
