While the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wowed crowds and made international headlines as they toured Canada and made a quick stop in the U.S. earlier this month, sources say Prince Charles is not happy with the coverage.
The Sunday Mirror reports Charles is worried the media reports of his son and daughter-in-law, Will and Kate, will overshadow good work being done by other royals, such as himself.
Sources close to the 62-year-old heir to the throne said he was happy the royal couple was welcomed in Canada, but he was concerned about the coverage of their stops.
One source said Charles is now looking at a makeover to attract more fans.
Royal author Phil Dampier told the newspaper Charles likely feels "sidelined" by his son.
He said as soon as William got married, "People would be less interested in what (Charles) has to say on issues such as the environment and architecture if, on the same day, Kate is wearing a new dress."
The paper also reported there are concerns by government officials the young couple could also overshadow the Queen's Diamond Jubilee next year.
Diana was really good in getting her hands dirty with charity work. She seemed quite genuine and good with that. She had horrible problems with the rejection from Charles an the troubles with the marriage when it was always Camilla and suffered depression. But Diana really set the standard with her approachability and seeking to have her sons more grounded with the real world. Kate carries herself well. I’m sure she’s modelled herself on Diana.
FWIW, I’ve been far more interested in the role the House of Windsor played in the Lockerbie bomber deal than Chuck’s insecurity.

The socialist, British media hates the Royal Family as much as the socialist, US media hates conservatives.
Since the early days of Fergie & Diana, the media has managed to reduce the public’s respect for the Royals with anonymous source reporting and tabloid titillation.
The Royals have no influence or ‘power of the purse’ but the diversion by destruction helps the Labour party’s politics of envy....just like our ‘wreck the rich’.

Exactly what I was going to say. I remember Charles complaining that the people wanted to see Diana instead of him when they were shaking hands with the crowds.
If ol’ Chaz is waiting for his mum to die, he should remember that his grandmother the Queen Mum lived to 101 and that the Queen at 85 is healthy as a horse.

I agree. Charles is not stupid enough to make those statements. He may think them but he’s certainly not going to say such things to newspaper reporters.
