No

You will see communist US politicians calling for the arrest of American News Corp executives, using this 11 year old "scandal" as an excuse.

MSNBC is all over this, not really explaining what the hell the real story is but getting the message out that News Corp and Murdoch are crooks.

Got to hand it to the marxists though, they never fail to use threat of imprisonment to keep the press in line.

Given that the British Prime Minister is a Conservative, and the current British govt is a conservative-heavy coalition, I am bemused at the notion of this ‘leftist British govt’ you talk about.

Heard that the FCC is investigating Murdock and may try to break up his U.S. empire, i.e. implying that Fox Cable TV license might be taken away.

Watch the communist sympathizer FCC Chairman Genochowski. Also watch the communist group “Free Press”.

they are the ones who want to destroy Fox TV.

“You will see communist US politicians calling for the arrest of American News Corp executives, using this 11 year old “scandal” as an excuse.”

Where did you get 11 years from? This has been going on a *lot* more recently than the year 2000!

What this scandal is really showing, digusting behaviour of the journalists aside, is that the UK tabloids, police and government are all thoroughly in each others pockets right up to the very highest levels. I have a healthy respect for the role of the free market in the running of my country - but am I happy to see so many of our elected officials and police seemingly dancing to the media owners’ tunes? Hell no - I do NOT want to live in a banana republic.

Like Sarkozy in France(a fellow of the last IMF director, the socialist D?Strauss-Kahn), Cameron is a center-right liberal who perfectly fits with Obamao...

You obviously ignore, want to ignore or feign to ignore ,what liberalism is. In USA they have the famous RINOs....

Cameron is not a conservative...rather a politically correct coward

Have not followed this UK story but because it’s trial by press and Murdock does have his opponents comming out from under every rock and sundry spider holes would rather wait to see what their courts decide.

Actually its already been trial by court. Some people working for the News of the World have already been convicted. At the time, the management claimed (and as it turns out, possibly lied) that it was the work of a few rogue employees. Now, it seems possible that the hacking was been done with the knowledge of senior members of Murdochs companies. In fact, they may have directly ordered it.

OTOH, Hiving Fox off onto another owner is a very good idea.

I really don’t think he was. But I think his son was. And seeing as how his son is a liberal & set to run things when his dad no longer can, I ‘d like to see him go to jail so Murdoch has to choose someone else to take over. (hopefully not Rebekah Brooks, sheesh)

They hacked the phones of the families of a kidnapped girl, dead soldiers, 7/7 victims, 9/11 victims, Gordon Brown and allegedly members of the Royal family too.

Sorry, the news media can't do things like this. They have got to be stopped.

You seem to be indulging in a little bit of popular "justice" yourself!

The BBC is not on trial here. No one has accused them of wrongdoing in this affair (thus far). If you have evidence to the contrary, then you need to contact the relevent authorities and have them bring charges. Even if that did happen, the (alleged) iniquities of the BBC are immaterial as to whether or not NewsCorp is guilty. You cannot defend Murdoch's news outlets from charges by saying "other people have done even worse". That just means they should ALL be in the dock.

Far too many Americans on these boards seem to think this is some kind of conspiracy against righteous Murdoch by the evil left wing media. To be sure, I suspect most of them are rubbing their hands with glee at his discomfiture, but at the same time I can assure you all that if you were unfortunate enough to be exposed to Murdoch's UK based so-called "newspapers" most of you would PUKE. Newscorps operations in the UK are in no way on a par with Fox news. The News of the World and the Sun are like cut price versions of the "National Enquirer" without the journalistic scruples.

But Ulysse, News International journalists have admitted they were carrying out illegal hacking and phonetaps. Some of them are already behind bars! How is that presuming anything? No one is ignoring that there are several other persons accused who have not been brought to trial yet, but the investigation is continuing. This is not the end. There will be more arrests and trials.

Sadly, juries seem to think so too.

I’m not so sure about this alleged Guardian/BBC axis. Of course they are reporting this - its big news after all - but I think your statement about them “regretting helping to open this particular can of worms” is in itself a very good reason why they would not push it. This investigation is going to run and run, and as you say, its unlikely to just indite NI at the end of the day.

Rebekah Brooks is hardly going to admit she knew about phone hacking, is she?

Personally I find it inconceivable that the editor did NOT know it was going on. Consider. Some hack comes to her with an exclusive story - how is she not going to ask how he got that information? How would she be able to protect the paper from lawsuits if she didnt ask the question "are you sure this is true? And how do we know its true?"

If it is an open secret, it’s not one that I have come across. However, I am someone who long ago realised the truth of the adage “if you don’t take a daily newspaper you are uninformed, if you do take one you are misinformed” so I am not very clued up on current UK media practice. On the basis of the very sharp practices that were common even when I did regularly read newspapers it certainly would not surprise me if it was true.

The hacking done by these journalists was not real hacking. The hacked individuals never moved their default pin-codes from 0000 or 1234. This kind of easy “hacking” is bound to get around. Another reason to think many media outlets in UK were doing it. Not just the Rupert Murdoch Empire

Just shows this was only ever about politics. Celebs and brain dead socialists who can’t get round to changing their default voice mail password from 0000 don’t deserve any sympathy. You have to ask why left wing hacks keep writing about this - oh yes the chance to smear and attack a Conservative. And in this are they any better than a red top journalist ?

Let's see if there is an investigation into any of the other British tabloids, TMZ or National Enquirer with equal zeal. Or, as I suspect, this will primarily be about busting up Murdoch's empire because of his politics.
Precisely. Thanks Tex-Con-Man.
