News of the World phone-hacking whistleblower found dead
Guardian ^ | Monday, 18 July, 2011 | Amelia Hill, James Robinson and Caroline Davies

"..Hoare said he was once a close friend of Coulson's, and told the New York Times the two first worked together at the Sun, where, Hoare said, he played recordings of hacked messages for Coulson. At the News of the World, Hoare said, he continued to inform Coulson of his activities. He "actively encouraged me to do it", Hoare said. In September last year he was interviewed under caution by police over his claim the former Tory communications chief asked him to hack into phones when editor of the paper, but declined to make any comment.

Hoare returned to the spotlight last week, after he told the New York Times that reporters at the NoW were able to use police technology to locate people using their mobile phone signals, in exchange for payments to police officers. He said journalists were able to use "pinging", which measured the distance between a mobile handset and a number of phone masts to pinpoint its location.

Hoare gave further details about "pinging" to the Guardian last week. He described how reporters would ask a news desk executive to obtain the location of a target: "Within 15 to 30 minutes someone on the news desk would come back and say 'Right, that's where they are.'"

He said: "You'd just go to the news desk and they'd come back to you. You don't ask any questions. You'd consider it a job done.

"The chain of command is one of absolute discipline, and that's why I never bought into it, like with Andy saying he wasn't aware of it and all that. That's bollocks..."

I consider this notable because it has ACTUAL details. The part about the Brit cops being paid off to routinely use their hardware to trace celebs cell phone locations to tell the reporters where they were does indeed give me pause. That is scandalworthy.

What Murdoch was thinking of in completely disbanding News of the World and going on a grovelling tour is beyond me. Seeing as most of this stuff happened years ago, I rather think some judicious firings would have sufficed. We know from experience that this kind of self-abasement and kowtowing on the part of a liberal hate-object only whets the enemy's appetite. No telling where this will end but we already know that the Soros gang and the Obamaites are no doubt already in a strategizing huddle to see if they can bring the scandal to our shores and use it to threaten Fox's broadcasting license.

Make no mistake, from here on in, it's all about taking down FNC, by any means necessary.

Who was that Clintonista found dead in a park in Washington?

Guess this guy joined him.

Its as dangerous to be a Soros “tool” as one of his enemies.

A country that carpets itself with live cams —is it any wonder that privacy expectations of companies and individuals diminish...?

If a newspaper has the capabilities of doing this to innocent people —to say nothing of victims— what is YOUR government doing to FR....?

Or to YOU?

Hmm....?

Vince Foster found dead in Ft Marcy, VA on 20 Jul 1993. Just about the only place in the world where blood runs uphill after a supposed suicide.

Rest assured this so called government of ours is doing EVERYTHING it can to suppress our disapproval of it's misdeeds.

Believe me, they will try anything they can to get rid of opposition.

I can hold my peace no longer. What very few people know is that starting in 1998, all computer monitors and laptop displays have been bidirectional. The "camera" you see in some of these units is like the "Close Door" button on an elevator.

That was the guy. Miracles happen around the Clintons everyday. Like the guy back in Arkansas who committed suicide by backing into a knife - several times.

I think the same thing must happen around the Soros gang.

No thanks. I’ll stick to venison and bear meat - when I can get it. Otherwise I’ll be satisfied with Buffalo, beef, chicken and pork. I get enough bull from the newspapers and TV.

The Bald Eagle Fricasse might be too fishy, and as for the Spotted Owl, I wouldn’t want to be seen even CARRYING one out of a Washington State forest. Some lumberjack might think it was alive and shoot it while I was dragging it out!
