Deputies: Woman with 3-year-old boy robs bank, kid then dropped off at daycare

A woman accused of robbing a bank with a toddler in tow has been identified as 24-year-old Cherilyn Jannette Lopez.

The robbery was reported at 2:15 p.m. at Region's Bank, located at 7512 S.R. 52 in Port Richey.

Here's what deputies say happened:

The woman left a 3-year-old boy in a van while she went in the bank.

Somehow, the child managed to get out of the car and was seen in the parking lot. The woman retrieved the boy, went back in the bank, and robbed it, deputies say.

The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Shortly after the robbery, deputies say the suspect then dropped the boy off at a nearby daycare center.

The suspect was later pulled over at S.R. 52 and Athena Boulevard driving a silver Chrysler minivan and taken into custody.

Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco said Lopez is addicted to prescription pain pills. He said she confessed to robbing the bank.

Lopez faces two charges, bank robbery and child neglect. Because of the child neglect charge, deputies won't reveal what the relationship is between Lopez and the boy. She is scheduled to make her first court appearance today.

The boy is fine. Investigators said he will be placed with family members.

If you feel compelled to rob something, doll, make it a grocery store. You will get more cash, the LEO response time is slower and you don’t have to deal with the FBI as an investigatory and pursuit body.

I think you left out the most important piece of advice: Drop your kid off at daycare BEFORE the robbery, not after. :)
