Get ready for the political

Oh please be right - we need this on Nov 6, 2012. We also need a good RINO house cleaning.

Steny, ol' buddy, ol' pal, that is exactly the point.

You've got enough of our money. Make it work, huh?

The only way that a BBA would make tax increases impossible is by putting language in the ammendment prohibiting using tax increases to balance the budget.

.
Oterwise, it will do the opposite: - Make tax increases essentially mandatory every budget cycle.

.
Which do you think is most likely?

This BBA doesn't do that.

On the other hand, what it does do, is require a 2/3 super-majority to raise taxes.

Don't know about you, but that works for me.

You have no idea what it does do; neither does congress, until a draft acceptable to 2/3 of each house comes out.

You’re talking through the hole on top of your head.

.
The true down side is that the “amendment” doesn’t exist until it is debated and drafted in congress.

Those here saying that it would prevent tax increases are just shootin off their mouths in ignorance. No such amendment could possibly come out of the present congress.

Well, you’re right about the Senate, but the House seems to
be willing to try to get our government’s books (sort of) balanced.

I guess it’s a pipe dream to think we could actually be past
this nightmare of overspending and over-entitling the leeches of America!

Wouldn't that mean that you have no idea what it does, either?

In which case, the hole in your head would match mine.

I was discussing the obvious consequences of such an amendment, if it were to fail to restrain tax increases, which is the most likely scenario, considering the present makeup of congress, and their past record of behavior.

You were promoting something that doesn’t even exist.

All we can do is keep the faxes, phone calls and letters pouring in on them.

In other words, we both were "assuming".

Thus, the disagreement is not worth the electrons being expended, is it?

Hi. Could you please remove my keyword “dumbass” from the keyword list? That word just automatically comes to mind when I think of Hoyer, and I just put it down without thinking. Thanks.

extreme fringe?

Didn’t I read on one of these threads that 75% of Americans support a BBA?
