Actually we cheat.

Every Christmas Eve we make them.

A good short cut. Get Pillsbury biscuit dough (yeah, the ones in the blue tubes)

Poke a hole in the middle of them.

Make sure the Crisco in the skillet in very hot. Put the donuts in the skillet (they will float). When nice and brown on one side flip 'em over.

Once you take them out of the skillet put them in a paper bag with brown sugar, and cinnamon, and shake em up.

Brilliant! ... Have you tried the croissants that come in sheets divided into triangles? Sprinkle a generaous protion of cinnamon and sugar onto the triangles before rolling them up. Bake as usual. Serve to wifey in bed with pot of Earl Gray Tea. Well, in your case, enjoy them in bed when hubby brings them in.

Sorry one mistake, make that white sugar,we tried brown sugar and it didn't suit our taste.

Iguess you could inject jelly into them when they are done in the skillet, just don't poke a hole in them before you put them in the skillet.

Thanks for the link. Very informative. So if a census area has only 20% living below the poverty level and 33% of the population live more than a mile from a supermarket (smaller grocery stores and other place with fresh produce don’t count), the entire area is considered a “food desert”.

A person can walk a mile in about 20 minutes at a moderate pace and get some great obesity-fighting exercise as a bonus. But if they are 1.1 miles from a grocery store they are in a “food desert”?

Heat wave ... well, give the icebox pir recipe at the end of my profile page a try. It is truly delicious! Freezes well, too. I make one now and again and freeze big wedges so I can enjoy it when I need a cold treat.

Amazing but true-it’s a scam. Another excuse to engineer policy in a certain direction. Glad you enjoyed it.

One word of precaution.

Make sure the Crisco is hot enough.

If it isn't the dough will soak up the grease, making them heavy instead of nice and fluffy inside.

I always marveled how one could eat maybe 2 small pieces of cake or pie but...when it came to doughnuts seems we can eat one right after the other and if there are variations...we can eat one of each kind. We don’t do that anymore but...we DID and it STILL amazes me.

Looks like she’s taken on plenty of desserts in her time. But what does that have to do with the Mojave?

I doubt if any of these companies will lose anything. Seems they will be generously subsidized by the govt.
