Senate Democrats just wrapped up a meeting with OMB Director Jack Lew in the Capitol and they are not pleased. All indications are that the reports Dan cites are more or less accurate. Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) told reporters that a call came in from the White House during the meeting to announce a “potential agreement” with House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio).
Reid appeared to confirm reports that the proposed deal would not raise significant revenue, at least in the near term, and indicated that he didn’t think this would be acceptable to Democrats in congress. “The president always talked about balance, there had to be some fairness in this,” he said, grimly. “This can’t be all cuts. There has to be balance, there has to revenue and cuts.”
So, provided the reports are generally true, is Obama really willing to sell all Congressional Democrats down the river (apart from the moderates facing reelection in 2012) just to win another term? I think the answer is self-evident.

He has to win the conservative Repubs...even then he can still get a handful of Dems in the Senate needed to pass this legislation.
It's vote-counting time...and that's what will determine what will pass.
I view it as a “head fake”. He’s looking out for his own skin and will walk all over the Democrats if he thinks his decisions will get him re-elected. I don’t trust him and never will. I believe his intent is to destroy the U.S.

Hypothetical question: What happens on FR if President Obama folds and Boehner and the GOP stand firm and the debt limited doesn’t get raised?
If ANY deal comes from ANY of this, that in ANY way makes Obama look good, we will have lost.
Cnnot for the life of me figure out why the democrats are so inssistment on raising tax’s.
With the price of gas, food, energy, with unemployment at a great high, and what we are already paying in tax’s where will the higher tax’s come from?
We have just about bled out Mr. Reid. I know Democrats say tax the rich, but Congressmen and Senators are the rich, an I do not believe they will pass a tax they have to share in paying.
No cuts. No revenue. Yeah, he’ll live with that and just have his little tax cheater continue to cook the books so he can just continue to spend what he pleases. Nothing is going to stop that communist from spending. Well, something will, sooner or later, but he’s determined.

I’ll take a stab at your hypothetical question.
Some folks will be very happy, some will be very upset.
We will continue to fight amongst ourselves.
The GOP will be praised and the GOP will be damned.
There will be a few deleted posts and maybe a few members banned.
We will analyze and pontificate until the sun burns out and life will go on.... LOL
