Rudolf Hessís Remains Removed From Grave

BERLIN — The bones of Rudolf Hess, Adolf Hitler’s deputy, have been exhumed and disposed of because his grave in the small Bavarian town of Wunsiedel had become a pilgrimage site for neo-Nazis, the town’s mayor said in an interview on Thursday.

Karl-Willi Beck, 56, who has been mayor of Wunsiedel since 2002, said the cemetery administrators removed Hess’s remains and his gravestone early Wednesday.

“It was the right thing to do,” Mr. Beck said.

He added that the bones would be cremated and scattered over a lake, but he gave no other details.

Wasn’t Hess a rather low level functionary? I remember reading somewhere he parachuted into England against orders from his Nut Boss to try and arrange an armistice and was arrested.

I’m surprised there are a significant number of Neo Nazis still around.

No, he was Deputy Fuhrer - essentially second in commmand to Hitler.

Wouldn’t neonazis consider Hess to be a traitor? (Not that I expect them to be logical)

Whatever purpose Hess had in flying to England it must have been very embarrasing.
After being held incommunicado for half a century, now even his bones have been erased.

Did anyone catch the excellent series on The History Channel last night The Third Reich. Lots of color home movies taken by Nazi drones during the Third Reich’s reign of terror over Germany and the world 1933 to 1945. Reminds me of alot of Obama supporters today, lots of suspension of reality and worship of a man just like today. Wife and I sat transfixed for 2 hours, scary you could substitute Hitler for Obama and close your eyes and it would be just as relevant. The same phraseology..”Correct the mistakes of the past”, “Return to prosperity”, “Hope for a new...”. We are living in 1932 Germany right now, Obama is getting ready to light the match on the Reichstag and blame it on Rich whites, Isreali Jews, etc. Obama’s SA is the thugs in the civil right movement and the unions, his SS is Holder and the DOJ and armies of bureaucrats in the alphabet agencies terrorizing our citizenry. Hitler only got 1/3 of the vote in 1933 but he parlayed that through thuggery like the Kenyan into a Dictatorship. 1/3 of our populace is ready to sell their soul to Satan and have Obama be a Dictator, including the death camps, public executions,no free press. Read the tenants of the Weathermen(William Ayers and Obama mentor), it includes genocide and mass murder..right here in America.

He doesn’t seem like the type to have pilgrimages for, but given what happened to some of the other top leaders, not many places for them to worship.

Denying history has always worked so well. They could have made his grave a public toilet or dumpster to provide a just remembrance and insure that Hess and his kind belong in the ash bin of history.

We all need to recall the dangers of an all powerful government, no matter what the label.

Nothing of the sort. Hess and Hitler went back together as fellow occultists in the Thule Society. From the occultist Thule society, Hess helped Hitler transform the occultic German Workers into the occult based nazi party.

Hess and Hitler were in prison together following the Beer Hall Putsch. While in prison together, Hitler dictated and Hess wrote Mein Kampf.

Hess ultimately rose to be third in command behind Herman Goering.

On the eve of Operation Barbarossa, Hess took off on a solo mission to England that remains shrouded in official secrecy but ostensibly, he was attempting to secure Germany's flank in anticipation of the invasion of Russia.

Because the objective of Operation Barbarossa was the capitulation of Russia in 1941, all Germany needed from England was assurance that no major offensive would be launched at Germany's flank, or North Africa in 1941. To what extent England complied will never be known but for certain, no major British offensive action took place in 1941 against the Germans.

Paying homage to dead nazis: not okay.

Enabling living nazis like jihadis: not only okay but politically correct.

But don’t worry, neo-Nazis. Hess’s skull will be stored with the skulls of the other Nazi leaders, at Yale’s Skull and Bones society.

They need those skulls for their...rituals.

To what extent England complied will never be known but for certain, no major British offensive action took place in 1941 against the Germans.

In 1941, the Brits did capture Tobruk and Mogadishu, and did invade Iran, Syria, and Iraq. As a matter of fact, I believe the invasion of Syria and Iraq occurred the same month that Germany kicked off Operation Barbarossa. Of course the Brits were pushed back by the Germans to Egypt in May, which was a month or two before Operation Barbarossa. The Brits still scared the hell out of the Germans by nearly cutting off their fuel supplies.

Given that Britain lost the heavy equipment for nearly 350,000 soldiers at Dunkirk in the middle of 1940, and how much support they were sending to Australia, it's actually amazing how active they were in the Middle East and North Africa in 1941. They were getting plenty of gear from us, but making up the Dunkirk losses really took a lot out of them for a while. Then again, it's a lot easier to replace gear than men, and for them to get nearly 350,000 British and French soldiers out of Dunkirk was still one of the most amazing things to happen in the war.

I can’t agree with Beck. This is part of a very dangerous campaign to white wash history. It will be forgotten.

I don’t believe anyone besides Hess ever held the title Deputy Fuhrer. He did fall from grace as time went on, but he was still a key man.

“Wouldn’t neonazis consider Hess to be a traitor?”

Well, in the 70’s and 80’s, the British National Front and a lot of right-wing skinheads in Europe campaigned for Hess’ release, basically saying he shouldn’t have been arrested for trying to make peace, and that he was just a scapegoat. Really, though, I think most of the Neo-Nazi’s just latched on to him because he was one of the last surviving Nazi notables they could associate themselves with. Nobody really knows for certain if his mission was authorized by Hitler or not, so I guess they had enough wiggle room to still support him.

Wasn’t there some doubt that Hess was actually the guy locked up in that cell all those years?

I seem to remember reading something to that effect; nutty conspiracy theory or possibility?

Anyone?

Hitler’s plan to negotiate a separate cease-fire and peace treaty with Britain was well known when Hess “defected”. He was picked up in Scotland (if memory serves), and during his postwar trial was suffering from some kind of early-onset dementia (or the aftereffects of interrogation, narcosynthesis, and/or torture). This led to a conspiracy theory that the “real” Hess had really defected, and that for some unknown (and unimaginable, frankly) reason, the British put Hess’ double on trial after the war, and put that double in Spandau for the rest of his natural life. Hess was found hanged at Spandau, but given his physical condition by that time, it’s pretty plausible that he didn’t commit suicide. What reason there was to keep him incarcerated for so long, give or take murdering him, is beyond me.

Of course the Brits were pushed back by the Germans to Egypt in May, which was a month or two before Operation Barbarossa. The Brits still scared the hell out of the Germans by nearly cutting off their fuel supplies.

In February 1941, the Afrika Korps began as two regiments; one regiment from the 5th Light Division and one regiment from the 15th Panzer Division. By Summer 1941, the Afrika Korps was made up of two understrength divisions. While Rommel wanted to attack through Egypt, through Syrian and Iraq into the Caucases, German High Command ordered him to remain in Lybia supporting the Italians. It wasn't until late 1941 that the Afrika Korps was upgraded to an understrength army.

Syria and lebanon were controlled by Vichy France and the Germans never had more than a few aircraft and support personell in Iraq.

Given that Britain lost the heavy equipment for nearly 350,000 soldiers at Dunkirk in the middle of 1940, and how much support they were sending to Australia, it's actually amazing how active they were in the Middle East and North Africa in 1941.

At first glance, it does seem amazing until one realizes that the North African and Middle Eastern conflicts during spring and summer of 1941 were small scale.
