President: 'Every American will suffer' if debt deal not reached By Sam Youngman - 07/22/11 12:10 PM ET

President Obama took his public relations effort on the road Friday, keeping the pressure on Congress to raise the debt ceiling and devise a grand bargain to deal with the national deficit, by telling a Maryland audience that "if we don't solve it, every American will suffer."

At a town-hall meeting at the University of Maryland, Obama again made his case for raising the debt ceiling, cutting almost $4 trillion in spending and raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans.

The president, who for the last few weeks has been in intense White House meetings with congressional leaders, said that despite the fighting in Washington, "we have never defaulted on our debt — we're not going to do it now."

"The United States of America doesn't run out without paying the tab," Obama said. "We pay our bills. We meet our obligations."

The president said that in the 2010 midterms, "Americans chose a divided government, but they didn't choose a dysfunctional government."

Obama said he has convinced the American people on taxes and spending, and that he has found a bipartisan group in the Senate, presumably the Gang of Six, that agrees.

"The only folks we have left to convince are some folks in the House of Representatives," Obama said. "We're going to keep working on that."

Addressing the issue of class warfare, Obama said he wants "everybody to be able to be a millionaire" and that his efforts for a balanced plan are "not about punishing wealth."

"This isn't some wild-eyed socialist position," Obama said. "This is the position being taken by people of both parties and no party."

Exactly. Every American has suffered since he was elected and appointed himself King.

Because there’s no CRA for Presidential campaigns?

Obama wants everyone (in the ruling class) to be a billionaire, and everyone else to be ground down under starvation level poverty.

Under what circumstances is a revolution resulting in “fundamental change” possible?

When the Welfare State crashes, US cities will make Greece look like a picnic.

Don’t be so sure Obama wants any resolution to this. Remember, “Never let a crisis go to waste.”

Riots. Marshall law. Suspend free speech and elections. “Spread the wealth around” through emergency measures.

A serious economic crisis would give Obama absolute power.

Then the sky's the limit, right?

So tell Harry Reid to call the Senate back in session and debate and vote on the bill that they tabled.

Senator Harry Reid 7/21/2011

“So everyone understand, we’re going to have a vote tomorrow. I’m not going to wait until Saturday. We’re going to have a vote tomorrow.”

I feel confident that this legislation will be disposed of one way or the other. The American people should understand that this is a bad piece of legislation. Perhaps some of the worst legislation in the history of this country,” Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) said on the Senate floor.

I am reminded of a scene from Animal House. Kevin Bacon’s character starts by calmly stating “all is well, remain calm.” But nobody listens to him and the mayhem only seems to grow. By the tenth time repeating the line the crowd stampedes him as he is screaming “ALL IS WELL, REMAIN CALM!!!” at the top of his longs.

Same here for old Barry. Barry (and his whores in the MSM) keeps screaming that disaster is upon us unless he gets his way, but is repeatedly ignored until he has basically devolved into tantruming.

The American economy is in shambles already but if you are so worried Barack then maybe it’s time you caved to the will of the people and cut spending.

Obama's like the wife who won't put down the credit card even when the family's going under and Dad's working two jobs... she stands there yelling for him to get a new card or no one will eat...

Our country is so deep in the hold we can hurt 'more now' or a 'whole lot more' later.

It's a threat...

“Why doesn’t he just raise his campaign’s debt limit?”

Because he can’t steal money from the taxpayers to pay for his campaign, yet.

President: 'Every American will suffer' if debt deal not reached

Well, Technically no. Since a debt default is predicted to cause interest rates to soar. If you have zero debt (no auto loans, no mortgages, no credit cards) and most of your wealth is in some investment that is tied to interest rates. Then you could actually end up making out like a bandit in a debt default.

Funding to ACORN is money for his campaign. Or it was in 2008.
