A distraught young woman called (Democrat) Oregon Rep. David Wu's Portland office this spring, accusing him of an unwanted sexual encounter, according to multiple sources.
When confronted, Wu acknowledged a sexual encounter to his senior aides but insisted it was consensual, the sources said.
The woman is the daughter of a longtime friend and campaign donor. She apparently did not contact police at the time.
One person who heard the voice mail described the woman as upset, breathing heavily and "distraught."
In the voice mail, the young woman accused Wu of aggressive and unwanted sexual behavior, according to sources with direct knowledge of the message and its contents.
Reporters could not verify the young woman's age. Notes on Facebook over the last 18 months indicate she graduated from high school in 2010. California records show she registered to vote last August.
Wu, 56, has not responded to repeated questions from The Oregonian over the last four days.
Mid-day Friday, a reporter emailed Wu's spokesman, Erik Dorey, with this question: "Is Rep. David Wu denying that he had sexual contact with the daughter of a high school friend over Thanksgiving 2010 in Orange County, California? Yes or no?"
Dorey responded by asking for more time to answer the question. Neither Dorey nor anyone else in Wu's office had responded by Friday evening.
“If she graduated in 2010 from high school, then she is 18 years old now.
Which means he is three times as old as she is.
Sick SOB.”
He has the qualifications to be a Demwit President.
Are you with me David Wu
Are you really just a shadow
Of the tiger I once knew
Are you crazy are you high
Or just an ordinary guy
Have you done all you can do
Are you with me David
Which means he is three times as old as she is.
True, and Wu (D-OR) probably fantasized that she had an 'older man' crush on him, that his 56 years didn't show, naw scarcely at all, a syndrome common among middle-aged men. Then she set him back on his heels. Too bad he tried it with the daughter of his 'best friend' and big-time $$$ donor. Now he won't have the cash to fight this in the media AND fight a multi-way primary battle.
Oh yeah, and congrats to The Oregonian for courageously printing this story ... 8 months after the fact. (Well, maybe they only just now heard about it, gosh and golly!)
Sick SOB.
Yes, he IS in fact a Democrat.
If Wu was a Republican this would be the lead story on CNN and MSNBC.
“...fantasized that she had an ‘older man’ crush on him, that his 56 years didn’t show.”
I used to have those thoughts. That is until many years ago (and still only 37!) I was at the counter waiting for the cute young gal to take care of my purchase. I think I may have even sucked in my stomach a bit.
That is until she looked in the stroller at my twins and said “Oh, they are adorable - are you the grandfather!?”
Did I miss the young woman’s age?
Move along folks nothing to see here just a Rat doing what they do best.

18 / 56 ?
he should just become a Muslim. Mohammad did 6 / 53.
(although he didn’t have sex with Aisha until age 9...)
and Aisha WAS the daughter of Mohammad’s best friend.
then Wu would simply be emulating the “perfect man”,
and if anyone criticised him, they would be dismissed as “intolerant Islamophobes”.
Sorry, but “unwanted” sexual behavior is a feminist neologism which has no fixed meaning.
The Sunday Oregonian ought to be a doozy...they have been after Wu for a while, and they can smell blood in the water this time.
David Wu is just the latest in a long line of Oregon Democrats that Oregon voters insist on electing no matter what they do. Former Governor Neil Goldschmidt, current Portland mayor Sam Adams, and now Congress Critter David Wu; it’s hard to decide which one is more contemptible...
I believe Wu has already used up any and all political favors he ever had among Oregon Democrats, especially if he was hitting on a major donor’s teenage daughter. Wu’s entire Staff resigned right after he was reelected, and none of them would directly say why, other than to allude to behavior problems by Wu. The tiger suit was one example, but there has always been the implication that there was more going on than anyone cared to admit.
Now we know what happened.
At some point the Oregon Democrats need to buy a clue and take a hard look at just who they are supporting and electing. Wu’s strongest supporters are Chinese Americans in his district, and they will take a very dim view of any sexual hijinks on behalf of Wu, especially if it involved the daughter on one of their close friends.
I think this is only getting started, and David Wu’s days may be numbered. We may well have a Left Coast equivalent to Anthony Weiner.
Bet me a burger Wu is gone by the first week of August....
Developing....
Looks like Wu would have credible primary challengers:

But if the Dem party doesn’t trust the voters to do the right thing, they would probably put pressure on Wu to resign now to be sure they keep this seat. A damaged candidate like Wu going into a general election makes things too dicey.
Is there any redistricting going on which would affect the make up of this district?

Exactly..I have no doubt in my mind this was the intention. When I first saw the story I thought they were referring to a Republican.
...and they still reelected him.
Typically, no mention of the party affiliation in the article itself?
Moral of the story: If you have a teenage daughter, don't let her get too close to a Democrat congresscritter (unless perhaps his name is Barney Frank). Remember Chandra Levy? - a bit older, but somewhat similar story.
Not unless you happen to be packin’ heat. Then make sure your daughter’s safely out of the way, and cap the POS.
