I remain skeptical about Brevik, just as I remain skeptical of the narrative that Timothy McVeigh was a "right wing Christian" terrorist. I have no doubt that he's the shooter, given the witnesses and the fact that he was arrested at the scene. But an attack like yesterday's took months of planning and probably quite a bit of training. Not just anyone is capable of building explosives that will remotely (or were they timed?) detonate successfully in a major downtown.
One also does not knock the ruling party from power by murdering 80 of its up-and-coming in a horrific attack. If anything, that's a good way to keep them in power for the next 20 years. I would count on Labour to milk this for all it's worth.

I certainly agree here. I heard a report yesterday that THE bombmakers around the world are well known to intelligence agencies and the signature of the explosives that took out the buildings will be found.
Look at Lockerbie - they found a tiny fragment of the detonator and were able to put the pieces (no pun) together to reveal the responsible party....

If the man is an ultra nationalist it is very likely that he has rejected Christianity in favor of Atheism or Nordic religion. Christianity is regarded as a foreign Jewish faith that is not compatible with the quest for Nordic purity.

Tell me do you have any idea how many Pentecostal Christians might be in Norway? Off hand I don’t but I can tell you that it would not even be a significant minority and the whole Ecclesiology and Theology of that movement would be extremely foreign to Norwegians.
It would be so small in truth that other members of this man’s congregation certainly would have been somewhat close knit meaning you would expect to hear from them about the attacks and their opinion of him. I would expect a word from his pastor rejecting the behavior and defending their beliefs against what he did.
As to the Norway values of tolerance and liberalism those words are pretty much meaningless unless you put them in context. Trust me in Norway they translate into bowing down to the demands of Muslims and creating a Marxist state. The fact that these two things are contradictory matter not a wit to those whod demand Norway do both.
Norwegian Ultra Nationalists are not likely to be pro Israel. Unless writings on the internet can be authenticated as actually being by him I would be cynical about their accuracy.
Norway hasn’t been a stranger to home grown terror. In the 90’s a group of ‘Black Metal’ enthusiasts with anti-Christian views set fire to many historic churches. I saw a documentary about this and one of the perpetrators was interviewed in his jail cell, which looked like a college dorm room and included a computer. I take it than prison conditions in Norway are not exactly a deterrent to this type of behavior.
My first thought on reading those was “these are not the writings of a person who has become so radicalized that he will attack innocent civillians and government targets.”
So there are two possibilities he purposly did not reveal his true ideology in public or he agreed to be set up as a fall guy for this. It is of course possible that both of these are true.
In my opinion there is a psychology of radicalism that just does not show up in those few posts. Frankly his views are not extreme in them and he shows a flexibility of thought that is not evident in the writings of those who are fanatics to a cause or belief.
The writings also do not reflect any of the Christian fundamentalism or pentecostalism that the media claims he adhered to.
The hyperventilating media blew this into “fundamentalist Christian” because probably anyone who openly identifies themself as Christian MUST be fundamentalist, moderates keep their beliefs under a bushel so as not to offend

It was actually very odd to hear those words on a national news broadcast.
