Oslo bombing could be linked to Norway's participation in Libyan campaign - experts

A deadly bombing that killed at least seven in Oslo on Friday can be viewed as a response to Norway's participation in NATO-led military campaign against Libya, Russian top political experts said.

At least 92 people were killed in two separate attacks in Norway on Friday. Seven people reported to be killed in a bomb explosion at a government headquarters in Oslo and 85 were killed in a shooting at a youth summer camp on the Utoya Island, near the capital.

Norway, which is a NATO member, could have been targeted because of its participation in the military campaign against Libya, the head of the Institute of Strategic Studies and Analysis, Sergei Oznobishchev said.

Libya has been rocked by fighting between pro- and anti-government forces since mid-February. The international military operation, which began on March 19, includes France, Britain, Canada, Italy and Norway among the other NATO members.

Oznobishchev said that Tripoli's order for carrying out the attack is not necessary since "there are many people who are ready to hold such actions...in order to show that Western society is not as secured as it may seem in Europe."

Another top political expert, Vyacheslav Belokrinitsky, from the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences said that as the growing number of Europeans adopted Islam and supported extremist organizations, Oslo bombing could be seen as a revenge for NATO's actions in Libya.

The experts also said the terrorist attack could be linked with the world's top terrorist Osama bin Laden's assassination in Pakistan by the U.S. Navy seals.

"The militants found the least secured object since Norway has not experienced the similar attacks before," Belokrinitsky said.

The experts also did not rule out the version about the attacker's mental disorder that pushed him to organize the bombing.

Norwegian police said that both attacks, in Oslo and on the Utoya Island, were linked. However none of the extremist groups has yet taken the responsibility for the Oslo bombing.

A easier hit could not be found than Norway..
They’ve Not experienced terrorism since WWII..
and even then “lightly”...

They are not setup for reality in the real world..
After all they are like mideastern oil barons..
Bleeding the rest of the world for funds to run their socialism..

They are not used to looking terrorism in the face..
Must be a shock to their mindset..

We know that the North Sea oil is winding down, and that includes Norway's share.

Libya intended to sell future oil production to China and no longer to Western Europe, and Norway participated in the Obama/NATO war for oil on Libya.

Qaddafi swore revenge for killing of Libyan civilians on NATO Europe, and he has connections all over Europe.

Russia and China have carefully sidestepped any blame, while allowing NATO to hang itself.

All VERY interesting, without solid proof, yet.

How about the nutcase dude, or nutcase dudes that did this horror & slaughter act, did it for money, through the back door. Could be Libya or some other Muslim terrorist group financed and bought this guy. America & Americans take heed and listen up. You best broom Obama right now, force him to resign. He is weak and will not defend our country, he hates us all in the USA!!! If it is Libya behind this tragedy, it falls on the shoulders of our “flippant” moron of a POTUS, Barack Hussein Obama!!! The warnings are clearly on the wall, America. Send Obama and his American hating wife Michelle back to the Hate “church” of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright & “Minister” Louie Farrakhan where they rightfully belong!!!

You remember it was that right-wing Christian fundamentalist white guy - Timothy McVeigh that did that bombing.

Yeah, it WAS just ONCE, and a LONG time ago, BUT..." /sarc

“Dear Joan and family,
Yes we are shocked by the bombing and shooting in and outside Oslo, all done
by the same man, a 32 year old right wing fundamentalist.”

The above is part of an e-mail rcvd this morning from a Minnesota cousin, who got it from a relative in Norway. I would not assume this to be the last word on identity of shooter/bomber.

Wow.

Yes, sure, if what you mean by “fundamentalist” is atheist, godless, fascist anti-semite.

Sounds like McVeigh, including the possible connection to arab intel.

"A deadly bombing that killed at least seven in Oslo on Friday can be viewed as a response to Norway's participation in NATO-led military campaign against Libya, Russian top political experts said."

If true, the bombing (not the unrelated shootings) was a legitimate retaliation against a belligerent government. Without provocation, NATO has been doing the very same thing to the sovereign government of Libya. Has anyone ever adequately explained why we are so intent on turning Libya over to a disorganized bands of ragtag rebels?

Only one explanation makes sense. Libya possesses huge stocks of gold, and was on the verge of creating a Gold Dinar as the new medium of exchange for oil. For that, we are bombing Libya's government, and it wouldn't surprise me if "the West" soon resorts to a ground invasion to prevent the trading of oil with a stable, gold-based currency.

A supreme irony that Western European colonialism in Africa gets revitalized under Barack Hussein Obama.

Kadaffy is not the sovereign government of Libya. He is a tyrant who seized power by force and rules by force. He holds no legitimate constitutional office. He who lives by the sword shall die by the sword.

Gaddafi has been recognized as Libya's head of state by the entire world -- including the United States -- since he overthrew King Idris I in 1969. That doesn't mean we like him; we clearly don't. But if the means of his ascension and retention make his government illegitimate, then we should be bombing most of the world's capitals and not just Tripoli.

The question remains: Why are we wasting so much of our valuable and increasingly scarce ordnance on this sideshow? Why is Gaddafi's sudden ouster so urgent?
