TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- A pair of gunmen firing from motorcycles killed an Iranian physicist involved in the country's disputed nuclear program on Saturday in an attack similar to other recent assassinations of scientists that Tehran blamed on the U.S. and Israel.

The slaying is sure to add to tension with the West, as Iran moves ahead with an atomic program that four rounds of U.N. sanctions have failed to slow.

Back when Iran was having those protests in the streets, weren’t the secret police using motorcycles to herd and intimidate the youts?
Just sayin’...

Many aspiring Iranian nuclear scientists have suddenly felt an immediate urge to pursue another line of work.

Besides the attacks on scientists, Iran has faced other setbacks in its nuclear work that it said were the result of foreign plots, including a mysterious computer worm that forced a temporary shutdown of Iran's main enrichment plant in the central town of Natanz last year.

Perhaps Israel and/or the US are responsible for that worm and Iran is taking out those that they think helped.

At least someone’s taken action to slow Iran’s nuclear proliferation. Sanctions are worthless.

There are sanctions and then there are Sanctions. About time someone used the latter.

Many people and nations would have a motive. These hits are probably contracted to reliable locals.

You don’t suppose that some other country, say Saudi Arabia, would be entertaining “doubts” about Iran having an atomic bomb, do you...

(rhetorical question only)

From the article :

“But an investigation later determined the slain man was Darioush Rezaeinejad, an electronics student at Khajeh Nasir University in Tehran.”

The new title at your link (FYI): “Iran: Slain man was student, not nuclear scientist” ;-)
