am truly, truly tickled with this one. This may be the most exquisitely beautiful illustration of irony I have ever witnessed in my lifetime.
President Obama, try as he might, just cannot improve upon our horribly sluggish economy and thinks that bringing down millionaires, billionaires, and big corporations with more taxes will provide the answer (he may want to reconsider those Keynesian economics at some point). First Lady Obama has been trying her darndest to eradicate America's childhood obesity epidemic, lecturing on healthy nutrition habits with her "Let's Move!" campaign. Husband and wife both have some grand ambitions, but often find themselves frustrated in the execution.
So, in this terribly faltering economy, what company is doing terribly well? Oh yes: the original all-American junk food corporation, McDonald's.
McDonald's Corp.'s (MCD) second-quarter net income rose 15%, as the burger chain says it continues to build momentum, despite the economic headwinds challenging the fast-food industry.
McDonald's expects 4% to 5% growth globally in July same-store sales, which includes sales at restaurants that have been open at least 13 months, even if temporarily closed during that time. The summer boost follows a 5.6% global same-store sales increase in the second quarter, led by strong results in June.
Shares of McDonald's reached an all-time high Friday, trading up 3.2% to $89.29, and were up 21% over the past year through Thursday's close.
McDonald's has consistently outperformed the industry during and since the recession.
This is so preposterously perfect, I can hardly stand it - and it hurts so good.
Michelle is moving...
That explains the quakes and tsunami's of late.
A health insurance waiver doesn’t hurt.
Their McChickens (with extra mayo) and Fish sandwiches are pretty doggone good. mmmmm mmmmm mmmmm :)
She should check out why she’s so obese before she worries about someone elses weight. Just how many peas does she eat a week?
Sounds good but the cost of toilet paper these days it still isn’t worth it for us - enjoy yours though : )
Google “pink slime.”
It’s in there. Yum!
Hey, Michelle, you want some fries with that?
I highly approve of both of those; and McNuggets dipped in ranch dressing tickle my tastebuds very nicely, as well. Hey! I’ve been to skinny guys’ funerals, too!
Friday as this story came across the newswire, I was SHOCKED to hear liberal commentator Andy Sorkin on CNBC make the comment that
“the economy is so lousy that people are trading down and McDonalds is prospering”
lol!
That ain't no lady, that's his beard.
Hey Barky, you want flies with that?
mmmmm that sounds delicious. Making note to self to try soon.
When it’s our turn to go...we will go...fat, skinny or what-have you. Right? It’s not like we consume this stuff 3 times a day.
I still think “Let’s move” sounds like something that happens to one’s bowel.
Best burger joints???
If you have a Sonic near you, try the Blazin BBQ burger,
it is killer, pepper jack cheeze, jalapenos, fried
jalapeno strips, chipotle sauce, and you can get
an extra pattie for buck.
Every so often (maybe once in a few months), someone I am working with will stop there, and I figure oh well, I might as well eat too. Hours later I’m dying in the men’s room and vowing never again... til 5 months down the road heh. I’m a sucker for punishment, so I hear where you are coming from.
To me, that's an endorsement. Anything the NE libs like is usually at the bottom of my list.
I would like to ask the 0bamsters ,,, How many private sector jobs are available from the poor in our country ???
BTW ,,, the average poor in this country have a place to live with utilities included , food in their bellies , clothes to wear , Color TV , Cell phone , Computer , and more because of the rich . Compare that with the average Keyan brother living in a 6 x 9 shack earning 2 bucks a day .
Perfect!
My original caption on that was
“We heard you was comin’ Miss MooseChelle, so we filled up the hog trough”
“The Ritz” in Shelton, WA. Little teeny drive through buger joint on Hwy 3 as you go through town. Good food, good owners. Not big maybe seats 10 inside, picnic tables outside.
Is that the one that blows the fur off the bigfoot?
>>We haven’t ate at McDs for at least 15 years.<<
We haven’t either. However, I was in an airport last weekend and famished and wanted something cheap and quick. The selection sucked so I thought, “hey, why not try a (relatively) cheap filet of fish sandwich at McDonalds?”
It was awful and actually had a bitter taste. I choked it down though, just to get something in my stomach.
Five Guys is the WORST.
>>Google pink slime.<<
I just did. O. M. G. !!!!
Now I KNOW I will never eat a fast food burger again, no matter what*.
*Unless I am literally starving to death. Literally.
For a lot of people McDonald’s is comfort food. People need lots of comfort food during the disaster that is 0bamanomics.
McDs hot fudge sundae w/peanuts - oh - twice a year. A breakfast sandwich two or three times a year. I NEVER order soda/coffee from fast food places, and rarely burgers.
Thing is that families and young couples maybe can’t even afford the local diners or Applebees right now. So, McDs is getting that business during this “downturn” or whatever it’s called.
People still want to “go out” for a bite, and you just can’t get much cheaper than McDonalds.
Exactly.
They don't have the financial uncertainty associated with "Obamacare" hanging over their heads as most other companies in this economy do.
I'm sure that's got nothing to do with it though. Right?
Whenever McDonald’s is mentioned the cranks come out in droves to dish up a their disgust of the golden arches.
lighten up.
It is a remarkable company.
My personal favorite is “Paradise Pup”, DesPlaines Illinois.
Cheap fast food always soars in a gloomy economy. Whether YOU like fast food or not, it’s a solid investment.
Given the economy, it’s no surprise a place with cheap food (thanks, at least in part, to ObamaCare waivers) is prospering.
Democrats aren’t too good on the whole consequence thing, and Mouchelle is no exception. Of course, neither are a huge portion of Obama-voters who still think the economy is Bush’s fault.
Mooshy ain’t gonna be happy with you.
Four years ago took my grandsons to McD’s. I had a grilled chicken sandwich. Several hours later I ended up in the hospital with severe food poisoning. NEVER AGAIN. Also heard rumors that they don’t buy their beef in the U.S.
I can't for the life of me figure out what their attraction is.
I guess you make up for me who orders half mayo on the McChicken.
You know it’s funny but McDonald’s is the chain where, around these parts, I can pretty much count on not getting sick afterwards. Chicken is all I order. I think the franchises must vary a lot.
Never have liked McD’s. Worked at Burger King in college; enjoyed the food then, and still do. But our hands down favorite for burgers these days is Five Guys. Oh. My.!
You must have passed a genetic bowel disease to your children. Or you make stuff up.
Mini-Mooch always looks so happy to be with mom.
How’d you like to be her first boyfriend and meet MooseChelle at the door?
BO?
Do as I say, not as I do.
