he AARP, formerly the The American Association of Retired Persons, sent U.S. senators a letter last week asking them to oppose any increases in Medicare copayments. But the self-described pro-senior group hasn’t acknowledged that it has a financial stake in the debate’s outcome. (Snip) The AARP collects 4.95 percent of every dollar United HealthCare takes in from AARP members’ Medigap plan premiums. Not allowing Medigap plans to cover seniors’ Medicare copayment costs is a disincentive for AARP members to continue purchasing the supplemental coverage. In its letter to Congress, the AARP made no mention of any financial stake it may

AARP’s actual officers are not sage oldsters. They are a gaggle of young lefties.

15 yrs. ago or so a friends mother passed. In clearing up her business, he noticed she had an AARP medigap policy. So, he turned it over to her lawyer and AARP said ‘’ you didn’t read the fine print. We don’t pay until you have been in hospital 90 days.’’ I wouldn’t spit in their butt if their guts were on fire.

I convinced my father who is retired to dump AARP and switch to a conservative alternative senior association that does the exact same thing as AARP and is on record not supporting Obamacare.

Years ago, someone on FR said, that when he got AARP mailers, he would load up the envelope with as much as it could hold to increase the postage and send it back to them in their “No Postage Needed...” envelopes> I continue in his footsteps to cost that socialist org as much as I can.

Care to name the organization?

I’d be interested in getting my mom to do the same. AARP has enormous mind-share out there in the world.

I canceled (didn't renew) my membership about ten years ago. Those asshats KEEP SENDING ME 'renewal offers' - which I immediately shred and toss in the garbage.

I don't care as it's not my money being wasted. But someone's getting screwed by all that wasted paper, time and effort.
