Report: China Was Testing for EMP Attack on Taiwan
Commentary Magazine ^ | 7/25/11 | Seth Mandel

Posted on 07/25/2011 5:52:44 PM PDT by Nachum

According to a declassified 2005 report released last week, China had been testing the effects of an electromagnetic pulse attack–the detonation of a nuclear device at high altitude to maximize the area affected by the EMP–possibly meant for Taiwan. According to the report, China was actually testing two kinds of nuclear blasts and the effects the resulting radiation would have on humans. (China was testing them on animals, which experienced “high mortality rates.”) The point of an EMP attack (all nuclear explosions result in an EMP), however, is to disrupt the electronics devices within range of the blast.

They would have to be careful or they could do damage to themselves. Or, maybe they don’t care.

If China is stupid enough to use EMP or nukes on Taiwan, then Japan and South Korea will become nuclear powers in days or weeks.

Cheers!

“Did China actually do airbursts?”

If they had done an airbursts the whole world would know about it in short order. A nuclear air-burst is not exactly an easy thing to hide.

Well.... they could have done it at night, when it was cloudy.... and if they covered the bomb in stealth materials, why.... nobody might have noticed....and, um, also, there might have been two huge balloon 'hands' that, um......well, if they made them look like giant condors.... um...... you know, there's ummmmm like..... errrr

An EMP attack could easily knock out both South Korea and Japan, and most of these United States.

Our growing dependence upon electronic technology has made us extremely vulnerable:

Only for a little while; we just have to get guns and then set up some easy enough radio system from the past and we’ll be just set. Besides, this country is loaded with techies that can easily create their own cell phones and other gadgets.

I don't agree with you on Japan, given current Japanese politics as well as their longstanding anti-nuclear position. There's no question about their technical capabilities to go nuclear, but mustering the political will to become a nuclear power would take a very long time for Japan and I am not convinced an EMP attack by mainland China on what they consider a “rebellious province” would do it. The issue of territorial integrity resonates with a lot of Asians in ways that it does not for Americans.

South Korea is a whole different story. While South Koreans do have an aggressive and seriously problematic leftist element to their politics, serious hostilities by China against any of its neighbors would be regarded as a “green light” to North Korea to stop saber-rattling and actually pull the saber out of its sheath to use it. In other words, a military attack by China on its neighbors poses a direct threat to South Korea no matter what the Chinese say, since I'm not convinced the North Korean dictatorship is really under the control of anybody, even the Chinese. I think South Korea has the political will to go nuclear in a short period of time out of a belief that it needs to defend itself, especially if President Obama is re-elected and the South Koreans think they can no longer rely on the United States for defense.

Why would they care. We common citizens will be taken down one way or another anyway, sooner or later. Poisonous food, dangerous transportation, you name it...

You cannot go from nothing to weaponized nukes in days or weeks or even months no matter how technologically advanced you are. It doesn't happen overnight.

Pinging the Agenda 21 thread. Please let me know if you want to be on or off this list!

This is really making me think.

Nachum, the tests referred to in your article were from 2005. And the informatin about them is being released now. Could that mean that something has occurred that necessitates the release of this information? Who released it? Why? Do they think the danger has lessened or increased? Does the fact of the release of the info decrease or increase the danger?

It seems to me that having it released is somehow GOOD for us because it shows restraint (for whatever reason) on the part of the Chinese. In other words, conditions have not been optimal for them to “do the deed.”

The release is also good news for us, because when plans of attack become widely known, the enemy (us, to them) have a chance to prepare.

IMHO it also perhaps means that for the Prayer Warriors among us, the info release is a proof that some of our prayers petitioning the Lord to intercede have worked over the past 6 years to forestall this type of event. (Glory to God for all good things!) Perhaps the release of the info is to wake up our brothers and sisters who yet remain asleep and in denial of danger.

However despite any good news of the fact of the release, it does tangibly show Chinese intent to attack, and the very serious need for all freedom loving people everywhere to be vigilant and prepare physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually for the danger that could be facing us.

Prayer Warriors who read this, I believe we MUST continue at our posts before the altar of God!

Who says that they are starting from nothing?

If Red China has working nuclear blueprints courtesy of the damnable traitor Bill Clinton / Hazel O'Leary, maybe Japan managed to acquire them as well? And we know they have nuclear fuel. And would it be *too* difficult for Israel, the U.S., India, France, or the U.K. to slip them a couple o' warheads to tide them over, or provide technical assistance?

Cheers!
