ATF agents denounce rogue guns transfers Not told of ‘insane’ operation of arms allowed

ATF field agents working in Mexico broke ranks with their supervisors Tuesday during a rancorous five-hour House committee hearing, saying they were kept in the dark about a controversial undercover operation in which hundreds of guns ended up in the hands of Mexican drug cartels.

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agent Carlos Canino, the ATF acting attache to Mexico; Darren Gil, former attache; and Jose Wall, senior agent in Tijuana, told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee they had serious concerns about the alarming rate of guns found in violent crimes in Mexico whose source was “Operation Fast and Furious” in Arizona.

“I would like to apologize to my former Mexican law enforcement counterparts and to the Mexican people for Operation Fast and Furious,” said Mr. Gil. “I hope they understand that this was kept secret from most of ATF, including me and my colleagues in Mexico.”

Mr. Gil said he found it “inconceivable” that any competent ATF agent would allow “firearms to disappear at all,” especially on an international border. As a result, he said, the Mexican people will continue to suffer the consequences of narcotics-related firearms violence.

" found it “inconceivable” that any competent ATF agent would allow “firearms to disappear at all,”

Any ATF agent who had knowledge of this operation and did not quit or become a whistle blower, committed a crime.

Gosh...this sounds like our cool, smart Prez killed poor brown people in Mexico..?

Why did he kill those poor brown people of faith..? Cuz I heard that in addition to two US agents it was over 150 Mexicans, so far, who are dead.

Hey, guys, how many people died in the Watergate scandal..?

This is so weird and sad, because an election is coming and I heard Obama really wants hispanic votes...

Interesting. A Freeper wrote a great novel that included a portrayal of that kind of behavior in the BATFE... The free chapters are fascinating so far, and I rarely read fiction.

If Reagan were president the media would be at full froth. 24/7 news bulletins with breathless speculation on how far up the chain of command the scandal went - what did he know and when did he know it. Special counsel would already appointed, funded and subpoenaing records and calling witnesses.

I despise the hypocrites in a way thats hard to describe.

Curious, what was the reasoning behind this operation?

So what do we do about it?

Sit back and chat amongst ourselves about how horrible it is?

Yes. His administration would be said to be "under siege" and his staff would be "circling the wagons." His presidency would be so routinely refered to as "troubled" that you'd start to think that the name of his political party was "troubled."

Law professors and historians would be in demand as every news show tried to draw parallels to other great presidential scandals. Well, the other great presidential scandal, because that's the only one that counts.

Can you imagine?

There'd be a "Deep Throat." Someone the media was getting inside information from. This person's existence would be an open secret, but those in the media who were talking to him (her?) would go to jail rather than reveal a name.

I'm sure there are a dozen other tropes of media feeding-frenzy etiquette that I'm forgetting here.

Obama and Holder lied, people died
No blood for Mexican oil!
There’s a cancer on the presidency ...
All the president’s men are stone-walling
Arms for drugs!
Impeach O’Hitler

We could do this all night.

I call my Congressman once a week about this travesty. I try to underline that they are aimed at taking away American rights.

Part of the master plan....give them guns then let them come across the border....destroy America.

Yes, obummer is GUILTY of killing many more than just “brown” people in Mexico and Border Agents.....there are probably too many to count—not counting the dead homosexual found in Rev. Wrights “church”......how about the Black people in Libya.

"Curious, what was the reasoning behind this operation?"

To increase public awareness that we need more gun control laws on the books because existing ones are not working.

As absurd as that sounds, that is the stated purpose of the program as it was carried out. Tracking the weapons purchasers and subsequent chains of custody was all bullshite.

I don’t believe any of them. I don’t believe the agents didn’t know. I say jail them all.

I agree with you. Any person who knew about this and did not become a whistleblower is a felon who should be put away. The only difference I see is that there chould be a 10X increase in the sentence for betrayal of government officials trying to make their citizens look like the crimminals.

And what about the FBI agents who set the whole thing up?

>Curious, what was the reasoning behind this operation?<

Cover story: to track guns to the Mexican cartels to see where they went and be able to get the links to the higher ups in the cartels. To see who is doing the trafficking

Reality: Obama and HRC said that 90% of all guns in mexico were coming from the United States and that there needed to be stricter gun controls. So they made sure that their forecasts and numbers were correct to implement the controls.
