There's a burgeoning theme in Washington these days. Although not publicly stated before the cameras, the power brokers whisper it among themselves. But before too long perhaps in the next six months as the presidential campaign heats up we'll all recognize it when we hear it.
It's called the "new normal."
This odious phrase characterizes a growing belief among politicians, economists and pundits that the United States is entering its twilight years of economic prosperity.
Gone are the days of 4% unemployment. Gone too are the days of 4% to 5% annual GDP growth. And with them will go the energy, passion and American grit that built the greatest, most innovative wealth-producing economy the world has ever seen.
In their place, we'll be told to accept what the imperialists of yesteryear knew as "managed decline." The strategy goes something like this:
Because the U.S. will no longer be a fast-growing economic superpower, then we must stop trying to act like one. Pro-growth policies, like low taxes and free trade, and a culture, founded on immigration and entrepreneurialism, that attracts the world's best and brightest are dead ends, because they come at the expense of expanding the social safety net Americans truly want.
Instead, Washington's job is to make life as comfortable and as risk-free for as many Americans as possible. In other words, we shift from a nation focused on creating equal opportunity to one "spreading the wealth around."

Democrats have never been happy with the idea that people could build themselves satisfying lives, on their own terms, through their own efforts, rather than having to beg for favors from politicians. They’re all about having control over other people, and they always have been.

This is not their belief it is their hope. They expect to be managing the decline and skimming their cut as always.
I have two opposing thoughts on this:
1. It’s true, and it’s all their fault.
2. It’s not necessarily true, and I remember hearing THE EXACT SAME THING during the 1991 recession.

The phrase is simply a way to excuse Democrat incompetence.
10% unemployment - the “new normal”
$4.00/gal gas - the “new normal”
massive federal debt - the “new normal”
It wouldn’t be so if conservatives ran the show.
I believe unemployment would drop, home starts would go up, GDP would go up and the federal debt would go down if we simply had a conservative Republican elected president.
Particularly if there were not enough Democrats in Congress to sabotage a fiscal revolution, conservatives would make a mockery of the phrase “new normal”.
I think that was their goal.
The Obamites called it “middleclassism”
Basically, what the democrats are doing, is sacrificing the wealthiest economy ever, and the best country ever, so that there could be a “spreading of the wealth”, which would create a classless society.
But, the end result will be that, instead of the classless society and wealth redistribution, the U.S. will end up like a Cuba or a Venezuela or a Greece, where there is no wealth to redistribute and nobody will have the time nor the energy to worry about class envy.
What the democrats have created is a very bleak future for the U.S., and perhaps no future at all. If anybody can, perhaps it’s time to start thinking of finding a “better” country somewhere, because, with the direction we’re going, it’s time to find a “new” America.
DEFUND socialist collectives, foreign and domestic (including Congress).
After socialist collectives are DEFUNDED and UNaccountable bureaucracies/agencies (more socialism) are DISBANDED, legislatures will have very little reason to meddle in our lives.
Legislatures (state and federal) can be part-time jobs with 1/10th pay, NO retirement, NO perks, NO insurance. These POS politicians can get a job doing something productive not "progressive" (like enriching themselves at our expense).

We will be prosperous, productive, very low-taxed citizens in a country which acts as a beacon for individual liberty.
Sounds like the Jimmy Carter Malaise speech.
This type of attitude will give the next Ronald Reagan the chance to burst onto the scene with another “Morning in America” type campaign.
Anyone like Sarah Palin who can inspire people and give them hope will be a very popular candidate in 2012.

The last time someone (PeanutBoi) said this type ofthing the country went into a period of hyper capitalism. And it will happen the same way again.
When someone starts to tell you about the new normal just tell them:
“You’re in the wrong line. The line for followers is over there. Please move to the end of that line and wait quietly. We’re busy over here in the leader’s group.”
When we had 4.6 unemployment , Nancy Pelosi decried the “worst economy since Herbert Hoover”. What is it now at 9.2? The best thing since sliced bread?
Nothing like lowering expectations to make failure look acceptable.
Obama could wrap his turds in tinfoil and fishhooks and the presstitutes would sell it as jewelery at Sothebys auctions.
